I saw this earlier and wondered why nobody posted about it yet. Especially given all the o-ring goodies/stretch goals.

If all the goals get met, it's not a bad price, actually. Love the missile/afterburner/ejection seat effects. #effectionseat

But I'm over here still waiting on my Razor Crest to finally ship. Pretty cool how they blew the ship up in the show right after the funding campaign was over

Many conflicting feelings on this.

Like seeing the Sky Striker again.
Don't like the method of release or the price.

Like Chief said, if all the goals are met, the price is better.
Without room to set up my Flagg, I either don't care, or can't really use most of the extras.

The missile and ejection seat effects are neat.
I hope they are using different material than the Transformers blast effects that people have already reported is melting the plastic and paint on the figures.

I love seeing some vintage style o-ring figures.
I'm only interested in having them on vintage style cards.

I know my feeling on this will sound a lot negative, but this is like a kick in the teeth. This is a big cash grab that I can't back. I know many hoped for o-ring figures in the retro line and then they do this. They updated things with everyone modifying there 30th strikers, but those updates should have been already done. I modified the landing gear/wings back when I was a kid. Little extra detail they tossed at us and stuff that was most likely pulled from the 30th version before production is too much. I would have backed this during the 30th line or even if the retro line was retro, but not for the price they are asking. Plus it looks as that the only new thing would be the display stand and a few greeble which are not worth what they are asking. Yeah you can say they added detail, but not enough to justify that price. Even the support vehicle looks to be a kit bash of the Flagg tow vehicle which again many are able to do very easily. The RIO is cool, but I was under the impression that it was always Airborne in the RIO seat on the box art despite the name on the canopy.

I would have totally agreed with someone saying that the 2007-09 recession killed the collecting market, but not so much now. Said truth for all us collectors (which are the target market for GI Joe and many others) are getting older. Hasbro knows that and hasn't done anything to remedy the problem they face. The writing is on the wall for them, as the light at the end is coming. Kids are just not into toys as we fans were back in the day. Hasbro and other toy companies that are doing this are killing the market single handedly.

Though I guess it doesn't really matter at the end of the day if Hasbro losses another fan, but I haven't supported them in years now. With this though it looks that I will just be focusing on vintage stuff as I'm done supporting big companies.

Sorry to rant a little. I'm old and been in the game for a long time, and hate to see the disrespect Hasbro has for its fan base.

I may just sell off my "single" seater Skystrikers then
also those o-ring figures will be sold off
probably have enough to back it then

I'm in. Separate wings/landing gear, the flight stand, blast effects, missiles that actually stay on, and the extra little vehicles make this worthwhile to me. This will be a stand alone for me, though...I don't need to get back into O-ring beyond this.

Is there any other cost to me if I decide to get behind this?

Since I haven't backed any of these before, do I pay a subscription or something or is it just back the item?

Also are there pics of Lt Wayne? I've seen Ripcord, Scarlett and the 2 man deck crew, but I haven't seen Lt Wayne.

no other cost DJ.

A lot of rumors of a new flag if this succeeds. I just dig o ring figs. I would prefer the faces not be painted and a new head for the RIO but overall I dig it

Those are only digital images according to the pics, I don't think the faces are gonna be painted. Essentially this is like looking at a painted prototype and knowing the head will be molded in the appropriate skin tone plastics.

Jebusfark do I hate 'nostalgia' as a selling point. Every decision-maker at Hasbro is a talentless hack glomming off the work of better creators that came before them. This *entire* project is garbage without relent, imho.

Don’t hold back man. Tell us how you really feel.

Adults buying toys, whether they are cheap Dollar Store army men or hundreds of dollar Hot Toys figures, is based on nostalgia whether you like it or not. Why are we all members of this forum? Because we had Joes growing up. The adult collector coming into toys fresh with zero nostalgia or memories of toys from childhood is as rare as a five legged duck. So using nostalgia as a selling point is a perfectly logical tactic and not using that emotional connection to sell a product would be bad business.

I have *never* bought a toy because it reminded me of when I was a child. I bought every last damned one of them because of how they made me feel the moment I saw it. It just makes you a sucker for out-dated garbage like these figures are.

You know you can enjoy the toys you enjoy for your own reasons without putting down people who enjoy other toys, for other reasons.

Good or bad, nostalgia is pretty much why this hobby and site exists.
