This guy has some more cool accessories. The metal glasses is a really cool idea, I wish I had thought of doing that before.

Oh that's a cool idea for the glasses.

They have been doing the metal glasses in 1/6 scale for a while. Curious how the durability translates to 1/18 scale. The 1/6 are pretty thin so I wonder how easily they snap if you bend them too far/much.

i saw those glasses at the same place as the cool clothes. i think they are die struck or maybe laser cut out. i say die struck because i can't think of another way to get that "ridge" on the aviator sunglasses @ the arm. having made some custom metal glasses i have to say these look much better and i'd never sell a pair of mine for that low a price. i'm tempted to get some.

for comparison here are most of the ones i've made. i wish i had better pics of a few of them. all labor heavy using brass, torch,, and silver solder. the only exceptions being the best pair i made (rughead) using steel wire and a laser welder ,and the worst (hickok) just nail heads jabbed into the head.

I was thinking photo etched brass could be done

i'm not familiar with that, but i'll def. look into it. it would be great to find a scrapbook cutter or some kind of metal cutter in the shape of glasses. i'm going to attempt silver soldering with a butane torch at home. losing access to a torch and laser stopped my quest to make better glasses.

i was looking for ball joints on ebay and stumbled on a over seas seller with a bunch of photo etched parts. i had forgotten about you suggesting that may be how they made the glasses. it looks like you were right!

i took the plunge and ordered a set along with the joints i wanted. at $9 i figured i'd try them. new seller to me so here is hoping everything comes as advertised. i'll report back when they get here. i can't seem to find more on ebay but i googled and found another site with them for a few dollars more.

it should be pretty close. since i'm bending the arms i can always add some width there. for $9 if i can get 3 pairs to work i'll be happy.

I dunno, if the 1/32nd ones nose bridge area is right you might even be able to do this type.

they look pretty good in hand. both the 1:20 and 1:24 might work for 4" figures. i need to get some folded and on a figure. Image

So whatever happened with these? Did they work for 1/18th? I'm thinking of trying to make glasses with one eye blacked out like some people wear instead of an eye-patch.
