I'm trying to figure out what could be considered the worst combination of ugly ARAH parts. In the end I want to compose a figure of those parts and challenge myself to customize and paint it to make it look more acceptable, sometime in this new year. (Perhaps more customizers want to join me in this challenge, then we could make it a community project.)
I already made a list myself of parts which I think aren't favorite of most collectors. The parts required to come from "regular" figures, so no Cobra La, Star Brigade aliens or Street Fighter. They also had to be easily available or kinda cheap, I don't want to buy the expensive Cobra Air Devil and take it apart for this. Some obvious parts are left out, because I already have a WIP laying around including that part (Annihilator head and Track Viper for example).

You can vote on three options.
This poll is about waist/leg sculpts only.

Just from a customizer perspective, Dee-Jay's are just hard to justify on anything else. There is something redeeming about everyone else's look, even if it is for very niche purposes. Dee-Jay's codpiece to the ribbed pants to the even weirder doorstop boots just is a whole other level of oddities I've never been able to fit anywhere else.

The Eels legs may be goofy if used outside of an aquatic themed character but it's hard for me to separate those legs from the Eel and see them as difficult to work with.

Sky Creeper though....i laughed out loud when i saw the legs. I suppose if you were interested in making a ....hockey goalie...they might work.

Great topic(s)!

I went with the SAW-Viper, Dee-Jay, and Zap 92, in that order. I would have thought Dee-Jay and his go-go boots were #1, but when I thought about it, those SAW-Viper legs are really unpleasant to look upon: the color scheme is brutal, and they're weirdly thin for a figure of that era. The 1990 lineup is one of my favorites, but the SAW-Viper is a figure I've never had any affection for.

And Sonic Fighter Zap made the cut because of the adverse effect those legs have on the figure: everything else about him (OK, not the helmet, but the rest of the figure itself) is pretty cool, but those legs drag him down with them. He looks like he started putting on a homemade robot costume for a Halloween party and then got the call for a mission.
