So far so good, house even still has power at the moment. The eye is supposed to hit us in about a half hour. Thanks for thinking about us

Came out good in Tampa. Lost power for about 18 hours, I was impressed how quickly it came back. A couple of tree branches down and just a mess in the yard from the trees. Unscathed otherwise.

Cap, Python Viper, and Silent Master all chimed in that they are safe on FB.

Myself, my family, and all of my close friends who live in Miami/Naples/Tally/Orlando are all safe & accounted for, which is all that matters to me.

The Lab & my parents' house were VERY lucky and sustained no damage, despite winds that literally ripped hardwood trees in half. Some trees were lost (...on power lines) at friends' houses, but overall extremely fortunate. My BFF of 30 years had a fishing spot in The Keys, though, that's completely wiped off the map. Luckily nobody was there.

Still without power, but hoping to get it back ASAP. Currently staying with said BFF, crashing on a couch where there's A/C.

Got some concepts during the downtime cabin fever that I'm jonesing to mess with...

Good to hear. My-inlaws and myself were glued to the TV on Sunday hoping the hurricane would get off the projected path to hit the Tampa Bay area. We had close family friends that decided to stay in the area and ride it out.

While it wasn't the eye of the storm, it pretty much passed over us. Not the outer band stuff we have gotten before. At this point I've learned that while they are dangerous, the biggest danger is where it makes landfall. For every mile inland along the path you are, the less dangerous the storm is. I know a lot of people that evacuated that wish they didn't. A co-worker of mine went all the way to North Carolina. 9 hour drive took 12 to get there and 20 hours to get back. When he got back, no power for several more days. Had he stayed and just prepared (which he didn't prior to evac) he would have been better off.

Sure, there was a scramble for essentials like gas, water, food. Plywood and generators were impossible to find. Even almost a week later the McDonalds down the road from me doesn't have some of their normal items because supply trucks didn't get to them. Still having troubles finding milk as of yesterday. Certainly not desperate by any means, but way better than enduring the evacuation process my co-worker went through.
