What do you listen to/watch while you customize? Thrash metal? Slow jam R&B? Movie soundtracks? Whatever the ScyFy or History channels are playing? What gets you in your groove?

For me it is the sweet, sweet sound of a dremel screeching into melted plastic. :D

I kid, I typically don't listen to anything. In fact, I'd say I'm probably the most productive while my kid and/or wife are watching something and I'm just in the same room. *le sigh*, quality family time. :shifty:

My first option is any of "Two Steps From Hell" albums. There are some really good playlists on Youtube that are my go-tos. Otherwise, a movie soundtrack also does the trick. Anything by Hans Zimmer, Brian Tyler or Steve Jablonski is good. My third option is to listen to sports radio, but that depends on the time of day.

Depending on how much time I have (sometimes 30 minutes, sometimes hours on end). If it's less than an hour, usually I listen to an old Joecustoms podcast.

Some days I get lucky where I am home most the day in the winter while the kids are at school. Then the playlist usually is rock. Some GnR, Metallica, AC/DC, Bon Jovi. That kind of stuff from the 80's helps bring on the nostalgia mood, especially when I'm trying for a character from that era.

For me it's whatever is on TV. I do prefer it to be something I don't actually have to pay attention to, like Finding Bigfoot, Expedition Unknown, Mysteries At The Museum, stuff like that.

When I had my own room for customizing, pre-baby days, I would put my music on shuffle and customize for hours. There would be lots of old school Punk, 80s and 90s Rock, Country, Rap, Hip Hop, I have very eclectic music tastes.

I put on movies or tv shows I've seen already so I don't have to pay full attention. Or music playing from my favorites playlist randomly

I play records to remind myself to take breaks, drink and maybe eat, side flips and change outs are handy like that.

Usually an Audible book, or I might watch game play thru's of The Witcher III on YouTube. It's like watching a full on digital movie.

I just need background noise. Doesn't really matter what.

In the past, what I usually liked was to watch old Joe cartoon episodes or any of the animated\modern movies.

Lately it's been themed. While I was working on my NES Pro Wrestling guys, I pretty much just listened to the Mountain Goats wrestling themes album "Beat the Champ" on repeat.

and while I was working on my Thor custom for the last NJC, I pretty much just listened to Thor's Only the Strong

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3EwyI0o0dwg

Otherwise I'll have the radio on, nothing in particular, or I'll throw on an episode of MST3k or something. Anything I've seen before really, otherwise I feel like I need to pay attention.

I talk to myself sometimes when I am searching for something. "Where the hell did I put that dang glue". And occasionally I listen to my kid asking me 100 questions about, "what ya making, why do you need that, hows that gonna work, where you putting those, ect... LOL.

My typical Go-to movie when customizing is Navy SEALs, has been since the beginning. I will sometimes put on something else military-ish such as Act of Valor, Aliens, Predator, Black Hawk Down, Platoon, etc.

As far as Television, I have the Future Weapons series on DVD and enjoy playing that while working. I also like to play the GI Joe cartoon series, both Sunbow and DIC. I want to get the Resolute series so I can include that as well.

I don't listen to music while I customize but will listen to Podcasts, mostly firearms or toy related pod casts.

I have two places where I customize:

1. My garage: here's is where I do all the pre-painting stuff. Parts selection, modifications, sanding, sculpting etc. I'll listen to a radio station when doing this.
2. Dinner table: when I get to the painting stage. I have my laptop on the table and listen to stand up comedians (Americans lately: Dave Chapelle, Ralphie May, Louis CK, John Caparulo, Billy Gardell). When I get to the detailing I shut them down, laughing and painting details isn't a great combination. I also like to listen to Vietnam war documentaires and retro game reviews (NES, SNES and DOS games).
