Love the new sub-team. It's a great idea for a theme and the characters are all great choices. The paint colors look great. I agree with DotD, group shots! Group shots!

Yes I'm going to post each one individually then I'll do some group shots. And yes, I have some vehicles nearly completed. They're not all repainted Cobra vehicles, but they're mostly repainted Cobra vehicles.

It's a big subteam, I sill have six more to post individually before the group shots.

And I already have a few ideas for a few more as a second series. But have to get these ones done first...

Looking forward to the rest. Just caught the Gator/Dustin Hayes reference! Dusty was my favorite Joe and MASK character, nice. :)

They are all great, but the Snow Job and Wet Suit are my favorites, of the new ones. Great subteam idea too!

Between here and facebook, you're the first person to point that out. I was waiting to see if anyone would notice it. You win one internet point!

Cutter
Sea Devils Watercraft Operator

Since the Sea Devils operate in coastal waters, having the Joes' only Coast Guard representative on the team was an obvious choice. He's mostly a repaint of Cutter v3, but I replaced his head with Crankcase in order to give him a removable cap, and I switched out the legs for a bit of variety as well.

Head – Crankcase
Arms, torso, waist – Cutter v3
Legs - Muskrat

Cap, submachine gun, flashlight – Marauder Inc.

Mirage
Sea Devils Heavy Weapons

There is nothing in any of Mirage's filecards that says he's a Marine – but then, there's nothing that says he isn't. And since his first figure was a member of the Mega Marines, it's not much of a stretch to say he's in the Corps rather than the Army. I took the opportunity with the Sea Devils to make a version of the character who looks something like a modern soldier rather than a member of the Colonial Marines.

Head – Custom-cast (by Oli GF)
Arms – Lift-Ticket
Torso – Duke v6
Waist, legs – Heavy Metal

Rifle – Coil Trooper
Missile launcher – Maraunder Inc.
Rocket launcher – Power Team Elite
Backpack – Gung-Ho v3

Remora
Sea Devils Survival Specialist

Remora is an original character, intended to pilot one of the Sea Devils' watercraft. Her filecard information is below.

File Name: Baker, Gloria S.
Birthplace: Honolulu, HI
Service Branch: Navy
Grade: E-5 (PO2)
Primary MOS: Boatswain's Mate
Secondary MOS: SERE Instructor

Remora's father was a race-car driver, and she was brought up to follow in his footsteps. She was a natural, and was driving semi-pro by the time she was a teenager. But a life of going around in circles just didn't appeal to her. She loved exploring too much and wanted to see more of the world. She graduated Mount Holyoke College (about as far from home as she could get in the country) with a degree in geography, and at the same time earned a black belt in Kung Fu. The Navy beckoned with its promises of sailing the open seas, and Remora never looked back.

“Remora is the greatest navigator you'll ever see. She doesn't need landmarks, she doesn't need charts. It's almost like she can see the Earth's magnetic field and use that as a guide. It's almost spooky, to be honest.”

Head – Custom-cast (modified)
Arms, torso – Sonya Blade (Mortal Kombat)
Waist – Sagat (Street Fighter)
Legs – Lady Jaye

Rifle – Maraunder Inc.
Backpack – Low-Light

Riptide
Tidal Force Marine Scout Sniper

Riptide is an original character. He really started with the head, which I had on hand, and built the character from there. His filecard information is below.

File Name: Ruel, Elmore T. Jr.
Birthplace: Temple, TX
Service Branch: Marines
Grade: E-4 (Cpl)
Primary MOS: Scout Sniper
Secondary MOS: Rifleman

The son of academics, Riptide was never really into book learning. He attended Texas A&M University for two years, and was a member of the Corps of Cadets with an eye towards becoming a millitary officer. But he never fit in with the other prospective officers, finding them to be too soft for his liking, so he left the school to enlist with the Marines, because he knew he could respect the Drill Instructors as they yelled at him. After graduating the Scout Sniper course, Riptide found his place on the G.I. Joe team, because whaveter else you might want to call a Joe officer, “soft” is not a word that fits.

“Riptide is a miserable cuss. Nothing anyone does is ever quite good enough, and he doesn't hesitate to let them know it. But he holds himself to the same standard, and will criticize himself even more loudly. Really, he just likes to complain. He's at his happiest when he's yelling about something.”

Head- Custom-cast
Arms – Tunnel Rat v2
Torso – Duke v8

Cap – Marauder Inc.
Rifle – Cross Hair v3
Backpack – Mercer

Seaspray
Sea Devils Marine Raider

Seaspray is an original character, I had always wanted to use this Corps head as some sort of commando character, and this was a good opporunity. His filecard information is below.

File Name: Trang, Stephen X.
Birthplace: San Diego, CA
Service Branch: Marines
Grade: E-5 (Sgt)
Primary MOS: Critical Skills Operator
Secondary MOS: Rifleman

Seaspray grew up on his father's fishing boat by day, and doing prep work for his mother's fish 'n chips stand by night. To this day he loves the feel of waves under his feet. In fact, he sometimes stumbles on land because it's just too stable. It's not just mal de débarquement either, Seaspray's legs simply work better when the surface underneath is shifting. He can double-time across a rope bridge without breaking stride once, but when he's walking down the sidewalk he'll find something to trip over.

“Seaspray is happy as a clam on the waves, but then when he gets to the beach and enters the firefight, he's like a bomb going off. It's like he figures the faster he gets the job done, the faster he can get back on the water.”

Head – Lanard The Corps!
Arms – Duke v4
Torso – Low-Light
Waist, legs – Outback

Flashlight - Outback
Backpack – Cobra Trooper
Machine gun - unknown
Pistol – Beach Head v5

Torpedo
Sea Devils Team Leader

I included Torpedo on the team since almost every other Sea Devil is an enlisted rank, while he's a warrant officer. The exception is Cutter, who is an officer but is more of a pilot than a field operative. I used the torso and head from the New Sculpt-era Chief Torpedo, just darkening the hair.

Head, torso – Chief Torpedo
Arms – Major Altitude
Waist – Airtight
Legs – Roadblock

Shotgun – Agent Faces
Pistol – Marauder Inc.
Belt – Cross Hair
Backpack – Big Bear

Devilfish 2
Sea Devils Riverine Patrol Craft

The Sea Devils are my first attempt at a full subteam for GI Joe. It came about when I did a new custom of the Devil's Due version of Shipwreck. I mixed a nice blue colour for his sweater and hat (a mix of basic blue and intermediate blue), but I made way too much of it. It's such a pleasant colour that I decided to build a whole team around it, and the natural theme (both based on the colour and that Shipwreck would be a member) was water. So I came up with the Sea Devils, a Joe team that specializes in amphibious, littoral and riverine operations.

No GI Joe subteam is complete without some recoloured vehicles, of course. My first thought was the Devilfish, due to the serendipitous name, and figured I would come up with some other “Devil ____” names for the rest of them. But I decided to go another way, inspired by the Thunderbirds TV show, where there were five vehicles just called Thunderbird 1 through Thunderbird 5. Since the GI Joe Devilfish had the number 4 on it for some reason already, I figured it could be Devilfish 4, and then found four other vehicles to be 1, 2, 3 and 5. That way I could use the Devilfish logo for all of the vehicles.

The Cobra Water Moccasin became Devilfish 2. Like the other vehicles, I painted it with an ultramarine base coat before applying some blue over it, giving it kind of an interesting speckled look which unfortunately doesn't come out as well in the pics as it does in person. Remora, one of the original characters I did for the Sea Devils, is the driver.

The Cobra Piranha became Devilfish 3. I removed the external missile tabs. Like the other vehicles, I painted it with an ultramarine base coat before applying some blue over it, giving it kind of an interesting speckled look which unfortunately doesn't come out as well in the pics as it does in person. Gator, one of the original characters I did for the Sea Devils, is the driver.
