A long time ago, I made a Flash custom.

Well... not so much "made a Flash custom" as "stuck a random head on the other laser guy's body and called it Flash".

Well, after I decided to retire Sci-Fi's "green ranger" attire from my active Joes and bring in the 91 look, that left me Flash-less.

Suffering from Flashlessness, I took apart my Comic Pack Flash and took his head with me to the parts box, and set out to at least build myself a replacement, even if a temporary one as I took more time to choose parts. This is what came out of it:

I was surprised at how not-bad it looked for something built out of "the black parts I had in my box", so I showed it to some others, who shared the sentiment. Although not perfect, it looked pretty spiffy and had potential.
After a while of looking at Star Brigade and Mega Marines figures and not feeling the Flash from any of them, I remembered I had a 2001 Zartan figure lying in a figure drawer, headless. I tried at first to use the torso with some different parts from my parts box (namely Crazylegs's arms and waist, and Sneak-Peek's legs) but it just didn't look as impressive. So I just took the limbs from my "temp-Flash" and added them, and it looked pretty good.

Parts chosen, the simple part was painting. I went with the red padding and brown gear of the original figure in spite of the lack of olive drab:

Well the body was done, but I was a bit lacking in gear. I remembered I had a single-pack Sand-Viper with my nooskult stuff, so I tried it on (hard to think of helmets that fit on the smaller Comic Pack heads, you know) and lo and behold not only did it fit, but the colors matched the gear he had on!

So, parts list:
Head: Comic Pack Flash
Torso: 2001 Zartan
Arms: Lightfoot (dyed black, leftovers from when I changed my SAS Stalker's arms)
Waist/legs: Dial-Tone

I'm happy with how he looks. Just need to pick out a more "recent"-looking laser rifle. I know some guys used some Star Wars gun that can hold a Joe hose, I may try and track one of those down with a hose-able black backpack to finish it all up.

Comments and criticism are always welcome.

He looks good, definately. I have to say though... I sort of liked the Star Viper chest you used in the first pic better.

He came out nice though, either way.

Well done!

I'll admit the Star-Viper chest looked hella good...

But it ultimately didn't work for Flash's protective gear.

I like the new chest better and the addition of the helmet works well.

I think I gotta go with Lance, this looks cool but the other torso seemed like a cooler choice. Good work over all.

Coolness isn't everything.
Functionality matters as well.
Much like one wouldn't make an Ace using ninja parts or a Zap using parts loaded with ammo belts, you can't really make a Flash in a futuristic flight harness.
Protective gear is where he's at.

Hmmm...that sounds like a Group Project.
