Here's the massive undertaking I alluded to in my Hal Jordan thread -- the all-new, all-different Adventure Team!

In my 'verse, Joe Colton retired from the Army as a Lieutenant Colonel to start a consulting company with his wife, Jane. With the help of some old friends from his days on the original GI Joe team, they created Advanced Troubleshooters, Inc - an organization that specializes in problems that no one else can solve. In addition to the core team members, they also work with specialists in various fields: Archaeology, Paleontology, Crypto-Zoology, Symbology, and the Occult, to name a few. The nature of their work and their various high-profile cases has led many to dub them the "Adventure Team", influenced no doubt by the "AT" logo painted on their vehicles and equipment.

So without further adieu -

Roll Call!

Joe Colton - Team Leader and CEO. Retired Army LTC, former GI Joe Team Leader

Dr Jane Colton, MD - Team Physician, former Army Nurse

Dr. Kevin Morrison, Eng.D. - team's Engineer, head Scientist, Maintenance Tech, IT Tech, and expert in just about anything that includes gears or electrons. Former Navy Petty Officer/Maintenance Tech.

Carter Slade - co-founder. Retired Army Command Sergeant Major.
Jake- Slade's Border Collie and team Mascot.

Thomas Red-Bear. Former Marine Captain. Team Pilot, Tracker.

And Guest-Starring (cue the Love Boat music :P )

Dr. Alan Grant, Paleontologist (seen here on the Team's visit to Ka-zar's Savage Land) :

Dr. Jane Porter, Primatologist/Zoologist:

Dr. Clark Savage, Jr., uhh... -well, he's pretty much an expert in everything :P

Finally, Lady Lara Croft, Archaeologist, Adventurer, and the Team's chief Financier:

Special Guest Star -- an "Honorary" member of the team: Sasquatch. Befriended by Tommy Red-Bear as a child, he has assisted the team several times during expeditions in the Pacific Northwest. They keep him safe from society's evils, and he serves as a loyal companion in times of need.

Coming soon! ;)

Anyway - that's it for now. -- Let me know what you think, or if there are any other team members I should add/tweak. Special thanks to everyone who helped out with ideas for my Carter Slade WIP!

Cheers!

Damn dude, that stuff is friggin' AWESOME...

I've got a very specific reason I am holding off on making a Lara Croft, but seeing all this makes me want to say 'to halle with it' and make some adventur-y goodness.

These are all wonderful! I know very little about the old school AT, but I think I recognize the vehicle you're replicating, and it works GREAT. The little chopper looks great in that odd yellow/green color, too!

All the figures look great, and the guest stars are all dead on. I love "dream teams" like this, and have been wanting to do one of my own.

Looks like a really fun project, and the photos show them off wonderfully!

I'm putting together my own Adventure Team in my head right now and this definitely gives me some good ideas. I like that you added other modern fictional characters to the team as well as some classics. Gives it a more fun feel. Like Alan "I don't like kids" Grant. That's one I'd have NEVER thought of as a custom. Very cool stuff.

And I like how you "fixed" the R.O.C.C. to remove the launch gantry and still keep the hinge functional. I've been debating whether to do that myself. Glad to see it works.

I'd like to see some parts recipes on these please. How do you expect me to steal your prize winning pie recipe if you don't tell me the ingredients? ;)

Mmmm... pie....

I was gonna actually post a "production notes" reply after the initial thread post, but got called away and then forgot about it.

So here we go:

Joe Colton:
Head - SWEU Kyle Katarn
Torso - Mutt
lower arms - Flint
Hands - BBI
legs - Hawk v2

Jane:
GC Nicole Kidman head
Lady Jaye body

Sam/Carter:
Head - GC Sam face on BBI head
lower arms - Cutter
rest - SGT Stone
Jake - Schleich

Kevin:
Head - BBI
lower arms/feet - Duke
Rest - Wild Bill

Tommy:
Head - Clone Trooper
Rest - Mainframe

ROCC was "fixed" by using a Hacksaw on the gantry and cutting just above the hinge. Nothing fancy, but it works.

Alan Grant:
Head - JP3 Alan Grant
upper body - SGT Stone
lower arms - Cutter
Legs - ROC CC w/ Stone feet.

I got a JP3 Alan Grant figure included with a Raptor Cage playset I won off the 'Bay a few months back - he basically had the same outfit on (sans hat), but with no articulation. With SGT Stone in-hand, it was an easy choice. The CC legs worked perfectly - I only wished I could find some compatible thighs with some cargo pockets (none of the other figs' thighs fit right) to give him a more authentic look, but I'll probably sculpt them on later.

Jane Porter-Clayton:
Head ROC Scarlett
rest - ROC Cover Girl (easy peasy!)

I know before I mentioned that my Tarzan was John Clayton's grandson and that I didn't want a Jane in the mix. But I was watching the Casper Van Dien Tarzan flick the other night (I think I'm the only person on the planet that actually liked that movie) and got a hankerin' for a Jane custom. Cover Girl made that possible :D

Doc Savage:
Head - Airborne
torso/upper arms - Tomax
Lower arms - Flint w/ BBI hands
Legs - Dusty w/Firefly boots

Lara Croft
Head - Liz Swan
upper body - Lady Jaye
legs - ROC Scarlett (camo)

I used my old Scarlett/Lara head to build a Lara custom for Cap because I couldn't get the paint right on a second head. Played around with various combinations and none of them looked right. Finally, this morning I slapped a Liz head on and called it good. In the past, I didn't care for the head for Lara - a tad too small and the hair was pulled back too tight. But after a repaint and various other tweaks, it grew on me. I went with long pants for a couple of reasons -- a) her legs are a [LASER BLAST] to paint in an even skin tone and b) I was gonna make a biker outfit or snow bunny outfit alternate Lara from the video game anyway - this was a merging of the two ideas. And it's easy to add a coat when needed. Besides - it's not like shorts are appropriate for raiding every tomb ;) And the holsters are completely removable, so that adds to the versatility.

To me, folks like Alan, Doc & the Claytons were a must because I want to start doing "Lost World/Pellucidar" scenarios/dios and who better to brave those frontiers than these guys?

Other notes -

Dan - the chopper doesn't actually have any green on it - that's apparently a reflection from the tree above it - the thing is completely yellow just like the MSV/ROCC.

Tim - I actually had my Henry "Colorado" Jones IV on the team, but I'm bored with him - so I gave him the boot :P If the ROC movie gives us a decent Brendan Fraser head (he's still supposed to have a cameo at last report), then I'll get to work on Rick O'Connell's grandson :D - but with the exception of Doc Savage and Jane/Tarzan, whom I've transported to modern times, I'm keeping other "period" characters off the roster to keep it current.

Thanks for all the kind words and input guys!!

I really enjoy it when folks create a whole sub-team or line from the ground up, and I really dig this collection in particular. It's like GI Joe, pulp, and the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen all rolled into one. The vehicles and dios are all terrific. That big yellow one must have been a pain.

Are you thinking of adding any baddies? If you make Rick and company from The Mummy, the new Zartan head would make for a perfect Imhotep.

There are no baddies in Adventure Team land -- only Adventure!!! :P

And actually, new Zartan is already on the workbench as a "third-resurrection's a charm" Imhotep -- thanks for ruining the surprise ;-)

Thanks guys!

Damn you, Lee Marvin. Because of you, I had to hurry up and finish this guy before somebody else swiped the idea :P

The base figure I used (MU Torch) was from an aborted Reed Richards w/stretchy torso custom. So the glue residue and other crap on the figure prevented a pristine Imhotep, which is just as well, since he'd just look like my Tarzan with different head. The way I figure it, Teppie's 3rd resurrection came with a price - he can never fully reclaim his human form. He is in a perpetual state of decomposition & regrowth. As such, his powers are not at full strength, but he is also much harder to defeat. Blah blah blah, blah ba-blah blah blah.... ;)

Oh Noes! Our Tombz has being raideded!!!1!

Image

I need to throw a 5-oclock shadow on his head - he doesn't look right completely shaved.

Thoughts? Ideas?

Thanks!
