So, in Celebrating Customs this year, I've decided to use the Way Back Machine, and finish a pile of WIPS from the last 7 or 8 years or so ... many of these are so old, I don't know what parts were used in the making, or why I even started them in the first place ...

First up, a relatively recent WIP, and another addition to The Losers : Aisha

Head: Star Wars + String + Playing Card
Torso: Lady Jaye
Legs: Wild Weasel ?

Great job. Also seconds as a perfect civilian figure.
No critiques.

Also this custom is very nice. You captured the character well and the paint application is nice and smooth.

She looks great. I'm curious as to the string and playing card technique? I like how you think outside the box.

From what I recall, you've captured the comic likeness well. If I ever got around to the Losers, mine would probably be a movie version, and the built-in ready to run likeness of the Uhura figure would make my job at that much easier. lol.

Can't wait to see what else the way back machine has in store

Sadly I didn't read the comic but I did see the movie. But neither is important because this figure is awesome. I'd like to know more about the string and playing card technique. Great job. Very clean.

The thighs don't look quite right. They don't flow with the hips and the lower legs and you end up with this large area below her crotch. I don't know the character so maybe that was your intention. :shifty:

The head looks fantastic. Was the card what you used for the back of the hair?

thanks for the feedback, folks!

i thought i had some very early wips, but the only ones i could find were the already-primed ones ...

the hair is kite string, or box twine, cut into strips and super-glued down, then i cut small triangles out of a plastic-coated playing card, and made those into the 'spines' or whatever the Chief would call it ...

i took my inspiration for the custom from these photos ... and i agree with you, pluv, there's a little too much daylight going on with her thighs ... but i started putting this piece together before i had any extra ice-vipers, which is what i'd use if i were re-doing her -

edit: thinking back, i may have put a thin layer of greenstuff down to press the strings into, and possibly a little bit of green to stick all the card pieces into -- i wish i would have saved a pre-primed photo!

I think the legs look a little bit long...not sure if you'd be able to shorten the lower legs a bit without causing yourself too much rework

I actually like the legs, both width and length. I think her proportions are solid all over. I see pluv's point about the gap, but sometimes there are sacrifices when using the Joe hips, of realism in favor of articulation.

Sputnik approves. And I think it will be nice to finally see some work out of you. Hopefully we'll finally get to see your pansy Doc venom from last year's Cellebration.

This broad is winning, except for thos Breaker thighs... Those suckers are PLUMP. Some of the most useless pieces in the modern era, IMO. Otherwise... WINNING is your game, what with the Loser custom...

This custom screams. Not familiar with the reference materials, but I love the overall look. That's an Assaj head isn't it? I recognize the full lips, high cheekbones, and the great definition. I am using the same head for my Gatanas redo.

Rockage squared.
