If anyone has any elements a good missile silo would need, I've actually got some space to expand it (it's about 2' deep). I'll be adding some walkways for sure, and maybe two side blastdoors.

Computer stations. Think War Games or NASA computer stations to control and track the missiles. Briefing room for the high command to talk privately. Security cameras. Hell a regular camera so the Commader can show the world how dangerous Cobra's threat is. And a coffee station. :shifty:

Great use of that "vehicle" that is crazy awesome.

One idea I have is to make a control room diorama, take images and video of it, and have it ghosted onto the monitor to make it look like it's BEHIND the displayed image. Love the idea of security camera, and I definitely need to get shots of CC gloating in front of the TV camera that came with one of the DVD packs.

Think I'll have to add a coffee machine now too, because that really amused me. :) Great ideas!

I love your start...it looks really good...Good enough that I think some people would call it done.... But I think you can go further.

I've totaly been sitting on a Defiant Bay planning on doing something like this...Eventually I'll be stealing ideas from you.

I think you've got some areas that would really benefit from a bit of "Scale Lighting" Adding a few LEDs to some points to create more depth with Light and Shadow would add a lot...and that Defiant Base provides a lot of texture to cast shadows with and on.

I love that you incorporated the video screen in there. I've thought about using my Ipod Touch as a scale Flat screen for dio purposes...this looks really cool... It could also provide for an interesting possibility.

I think if you make a control room, you need to make video of Both the Launch bay and Control Room...and they can play on monitors in each space...like they're having a video Conference. I love the idea of Cobra Commander's Hooded Face coming up on the screen at random times just to check that all his minions are behaving properly around the ICBMs.

You mentioned Catwalks and Gangways...and I think those will add a nice bit of depth.

those would be fairly easy to do with balsa planks, and dowels from any hobby story. then, just small chains to use as railings between the dowels, and paint them up!

This thing is too cool so amazing, I can't even describe it. I think this has gone beyond a playset and turned into an art installation. Think about it, it even has a video screen! Would love to see the set populated.

For people who stitch patterns, they make a paper sized plastic grid that looks like Joe scale grating. You should be able to find it in any craft store.

Yes! That's what the flooring is currently :D Plan to use it for the walkways as well. :)

What a fantastic project! Great use of the RT rockets, I could totally see this in the cartoon.

Wow. I've never had my thunder so thoroughly stolen. And beaten up. And mugged. I've been sitting on a half-completed similar playset for like a year now.

Looks absolutely awesome. I love the detail work and the RT part usage. One question...how did you get it to stand up without falling forward? Mine is just on wood-blocks right now and my plan is to cut the 'hinge' parts that attached to the rest of the crawler off, but it seems like that would still leave it too front-heavy.

Edit: Nevermind, I just looked at your website and see that it's screwed to the backdrop.

Well I'm certainly excited to see what you come up with on your project! :D

Yup, the 3 large pieces are screwed in place. The gantry from the RT is just set in there for now, I'm thinking I'll actually have it extending horizontally at about the height of the removable panels on the missiles, with some tech detail added in those compartments for some troops to be working on.

There are actually plenty of places to hide the screws, and I'll be adding covers to the ones that aren't hidden in the final design.

Man, that is beautiful. Like Nova, i have been sitting on about 7 defiant cradles for years now, one is actually cut so it will stand, but I haven't gotten any further. I considered stacking them two high and standing them in an open square so they would be three sides, and putting a terror drome on top, so they could be the inside of the lower levels of the terror drome. You use of the video screen is inspired. Just beautiful.
