Really diggin the new look - where is that head from? And the little touches like the ID badge are just perfect.

lol, and uh... no comment. :shifty:

It's a Professor X head. Was pretty happy with how different it ended up looking.

Holy crap, really? I half-suspected, but wasn't sure. Did you mod it at all other than painting and adding the fuzz-nutter?

yes. The mods were the difference maker, but at the same time were pretty simple.

- the goatee wasn't added so much as carved. since the chin was really built out in a cartoony way, but which already held the basic shape of the fuzz, I just used a hot exacto to carve in the detail.

-the biggest mod though was the the Vulcan right eye-brow. I shaved it off with the exacto, then lightly sanded to remove the blade marks. He still has a ticked off furrowed brow look (which is fitting on the self-custom side of things...no you don't have that market completely cornered yet, lol), and there was still a near perfect brow line there to put the normal ones on.

I dig that. I like that you're going old school with his look. Can't wait to see where this goes.

What are you thinking about for under it all? I was thinking suited Destro (or Professor X) for mine with a trench and the hat, going for a more modern look ala BBC's Sherlock.

Watson is virtually done but I forgot to take a pic on my phone. He's lazy in the sense that I've simply recycled the body from an old custom, but I've detailed him out and I think I'm ok with him. More on that when I have the pic. also more when I get my photo box set up and take something more than desktop WIPs.

Speaking of which - I'm making a new figure with updated parts to be cold weather gear Ajax/Knighthawk:

just at the parting out stage presently.

And I smoothed out the face paint a bit more on my default Ajax update:

Also still to come (probably in the main bat thread I started last year): an updated Batman head, the finished updated Bruce figures, some bat-verse group shots, and some batverse vehicles (lightly customized only), and a quick EXCAL story update to go with.

Dr. Watson, as promised. As I mentioned, I had prepped this body for another project, some time ago. I'm not thrilled with the IJ artic., but I also view this a bit as an accessory to Sherlock more than a stand alone figure.

I will give Sherlock the Joe treatment though, and he'll have articulation to the extent his coat allows.

I am happy with how the head and hat turned out here though.

Awesome Watson. Interesting to see how well those Lego hats work. What about the Ric Olie (probably spelled that wrong) head for Holmes?

Thanks Brad!

Scroll back a couple pages - I think the head I showed for Sherlock was Ric Olie, wasn't it?

I was listening to a podcast and they mentioned the Haunted Masion which reminded me about the hitchhiking ghosts action figures. One of them has a bag that would work for a doctor's bag.

interesting. thanks, I'll keep my eye out for a cheapie grab at one. I'm not opposed to sculpting one though.

It's amazing the useful things you find in places you wouldn't expect to be looking.
