This is my take on Spectre & nova's Skull Throne Casting Project,
what I'm calling
The Bone Throne:

I went a different way than Spectre did with his metallic skulls, and tried for a more realistic look.
I'm kind of stuck on what to do with the 'chair' part, and just have it drybrushed now -

Thoughts?

The skulls look good!
As for the chair part...hm...make it look like wood?

That's what I'd suggest.

I think a wood grain...a deep dark, dirty, moldy wood grain would be appropriate for the portions of the chair.

That looks great, and yeah the idea about the dirty, moldy wood, would fit perfectly.

It looks really great so far, but I would have gone with the skulls in a parchment color, as bones yellow some more than appear white. They are more of an off-white.

As for the chair, if I had one of these great casts, I would go with two different routes. One, would be to adhere to the chair parts various femur parts from those fairly Joe sized skeletons that were on rope strands at Halloween. Truly make it a fully "bone" chair. The second idea would be to take my woodburner with the needle tip, and carve ancient arcane symbols and runes into the chair parts, then make the entire work a bone color with a thin umber wash to bring out the carved details.

As for your chair, while the old wood would work for it, a throne showing that many human remains deserves the "brrrrrrrr" treatment. I would take the yellow grade calligraphy parchment, draw tattoos of all kinds in it of varying tastes, then tear the paper into oddly human shaped strips. Then, taking these strips, I would dip them into a cup of weak coffee to weather them nicely. Then glue them overlapping one another so that the owner of that chair, whomever they may be, conveys they are to be feared.

Really beautiful work, must have been very difficult to build and paint such an intricate custom. Awesome!

To move this thing along further, I decided I had to raise the seat height -- rather than make a cushion, I made a foam base to raise it up a little. I'm going to place it in my Fantasy Display for now, and maybe in three years, come back and 'skin' it ...

Hmmm... Maybe add some articulation so it reclines?
