Awesome figs! Tracer and Eagle Eye are outstanding. Great design for the PAC RAT. Splashdown really comes together well and compliments the original Payload.
I already see some JCA nominees.
My only critique is that to me, Monarch has more of a M.A.R.S. or IG feel to him than Cobra. Still a great piece.

I'd just like to interject how much fun it was to be part of this project. Bucky basically gave me some very rough ideas of the characters that he wanted, and then I went ahead and designed the file cards for them, trying to make them fit within the Joe-verse and that style of writing as closely as possible. Definitely reminiscent of when I worked on the 1997-98 line.

Then, when Bucky said that he wanted to present ACTUAL file cards, I was able to use my (admittedly somewhat limited, but still sufficient) graphic arts programs to come up with a format that I believe is suitably close enough.

And for anyone else doing customs that would like a reasonably authentic file card written and formatted to go with them, I am definitely available for commissions. :)

In the meantime, I hope you enjoy what's being presented here. The guys who are turning out these figures did an astounding job. Bucky would send me some basic character details and a photo, and I'd just be blown away by it. My thought, as with many of you, is "Man, I wish this stuff was going to be at retail!"

Lol. It's a Mighty World drone with a 25th VAMP gun. Almost no painting required. :-D

Eagle Eye is awesome! I love the idea of GI Joe being a soldier of the future! Tracer and the PAC rat may be my favorite so far! Love the design on the PAC Rat, and the idea behind a drone operator, which is how I use Brainstorm in my own collection.

Bucky brings us a cold weather specialist for day 6.

Enjoy!

I love the Deep Freeze figure and the filecard, but they seem a little incongruous. Like the person in the card would be a little less uniform somehow, maybe carrying a handmade knife or wearing a small talisman. Kwinn was such a mystical character, it makes sense his student would be a little bit unique, too. And I love the yellow goggles on that head.

Really enjoying these. I do have a question though. While the filecards do a great job of building the characters and personalities to go along with the figures, it seems like most of the good guys we've seen have their faces hidden. Masks and non-removable helmets seemed to be one of the somewhat standard differences between early Cobra and Joe characters. Any thoughts on alternate "unmasked" heads for the new characters? Just not a priority? I can see it being limited anyways, even if they did use repainted heads... but it's the one thing that seems to be missing from the new Joe recruits, and I was just curious if the designers had any thoughts on it.

Still LOVING this project and watching it unfold...

Excellent observation. I'd say that 90% of the joes that have yet to be shown will be maskless. So stay tuned!
Eagle Eye, I did not have or think to have an alternate head... His "models" that I used for inspiration all had their faces covered, so it never crossed my mind. That's a good suggestion though.

For Deep Freeze, being an extreme arctic specialist, I did my best to completely bulk him up and use parts that looked like heavy clothing, including the mask.

But from here on out, you should see a lot of faces!

OK, now where can I get one?

I haven't even seen that that anywhere...

Not sure. What little MW stuff I have was found at Winners, the Canadian equivalent to Marshalls, Ross, etc. I have seem some on eBay, though it is overpriced. Some small toy shops carry the line sometimes too.

Day 7 is up. Can't believe we are already a week into the project.

I gotta say, Bulkhead is one of my favorites. Yeah, I wrote his file card, but I just love the guy's look.

Bulkhead's drawing looks like he's doing a serious "carlton" dance.

Bulkhead is pretty cool.

I never ever thought of Gung-Ho as a big guy. Roadblock is the biggest on the team, so I'd put this guy on par with Sgt Slaughter tied with second biggest.
