here is more of the shield, so you can maybe judge better. it attaches to his back and either wrist via magnets.

Looks great. Where did you get the magnets? How did you put them in? Inquiring minds want to know.

Great stuff, DB.

You seem to be right up inside my head with that movie-inspired Cap. I'm putting the finishing touches on mine today and it's different enough that I won't be ashamed to post it, but yours is really solid.

Yeah, I'm gonna need to see some WIP pics on that magnet business. Farking magnets, how did you get them to work?!?

Man, I made Cap after the first Avengers movie so I need to see if I can round up any WIP pics. You guys have seen my spidey right?

(^ NOT a euphemism)

here's the inside of the shield. I dremeled out the hardware, glued in a wide flat magnet, then lightly sculpted over it. You can see it's rough, but that part is really never visible.

Looking for wips on the body. But I basically drilled a hole in the back wide enough for a smaller circumference magnet (the kind I also use for foot pegs), and painted over it.

Same magnet (sgcaper, I'll see if I can find a link), put into each wrist. Just drilled a hole through the wrist, far enough away from any of the joints and such, glued it in, sculpted over and done.

The only trick is to test each magnet to make sure it's aimed the desired way before gluing.

Thanks for the WIP pics. If you find the magnets I'd love to know what you use. I've been looking for magnets for multiple projects so any recommendation would be appreciated.

Sean, I'm fairly sure this is the site I originally ordered from.

https://www.kjmagnetics.com/products.asp?cat=1

And it would have been an assortment mostly from the top row, as the length of those magnets were best suited for use in figures. In fact depending on the depth of the peghole, the first two were the ones that I bought the most of, as my main photo area has a metal floor, and I like to use magnets in the feet rather than traditional pegs.

Now, I did buy some on Raptor's recommendation via ebay, at a much cheaper price, but I found that the diameter was off just a touch and that the magnets no longer fit flush in the peg holes without glue. The beauty of the first sets I got (99% from this link) are that they fit snug in the foot holes.

For the disc magnet I put in the shield, I just wanted something thin but with greater diameter for more holding power. I don't know what I used in particular for that.

to be honest - before you order - I need to check once more at home to make sure I've got the measurements right on which ones are correct...

I'm pretty sure that the 1/8" and 1/10" diameter magnets are the ones that work best for footpegs, and are very versatile otherwise.
