I have had a couple rounds of brass casting over the last few weeks. not a lot of pieces to show for it though. I had a tree of AK's that only one of 4 came out complete. instead of trashing the bad casts i'm trying to use them for a start point for some realistic custom rifles.

I am pretty stoked about this one. it's cast brass black plated (more of a dirty gold)with stabilized wood stock and handguards wrapped with bailing wire. brass butt plate and a few brass "pins" in the stock.bayonet is a nail with brass guard and same type wood handle.

if I could make them in more quantity without using my employers casting set up I would give it a go. as it is now I can make a few casts in slower times and work on them at lunch and break. there might be enough from this lot to offer publicly for sale, before that I will pm you with whats available since you are interested.

Excellent work man. Really cool to see metal and wood used at this scale, that's something far beyond my skill level for sure. I tip my hat to you.

thanks guys! it really means a lot!

Rambo I made a mold of the joe ak, then shot waxes. I used the waxes to cast some ak's in brass. this one was a miss cast as the stock didn't come out. I cut/ground the partial stock and handguards off. then I glued on some wood in its place. then some black rhodium plating, wire wrapping, bayonet making/mounting.

I made the bayonet today at lunch, from memory. too bad I made it upside down!!! the blade should be facing up, it makes me sick that I screwed up in that way! I have looked at hundreds of mounted ak bayo's !!!

You know what that technique would be really great for? Steampunk weapons.

Schweeeet. Is brass all you can do, or is it possible for you to do aluminum? I think some Joe guns cast in aluminum then blued would look awesome.

thanks guys!

I could see some steampunk type blaster made from tool box greebles :)

I don't know about casting aluminum, I am sure it is possible.my first weapons were cast in silver, which is expensive compared to the brass. the biggest problem is how long all the steps take from making a mold, to actually having a finished cast.

thanks Rambo! it really does mean a lot to get good feedback :)

right now I am working on a revolver with an actual moving/rotating 5 shot cylinder , it is very tough in our scale! I had an idea today using some tiny steel tubing and the lazer welder. wish me luck.....
