When I was a kid, GI Joe was the top level, then Lanard's The Corps!, then the Remco offerings. I thought the split fingers on Remco were neat (the index and middle were grouped, slight space, then ring and little finger), but they seemed more fragile than the other two and while I loved the removable accessories, the guns were all soft rubber.

Great Adventure People customs today! I never really had any of them, just Clawtron and the black-suited, green (or maybe blue) headed guy. They were always robots Cobra Commander had built before the BATs came along.

Fantastic work on Sgt. Rock and Snake. You captured the look and spirit of the originals! Takes me WAY back. Sgt. Rock and Snake were two of my earliest action figs. My dad was studying to be a minister in '82 and we didn't have a lot of Christmas money that year. My folks gave my brother and me each $5 after Christmas and we went to Lionel Play World and I found the Sgt. Rock set with the boat and tent. (Plus, Sgt. Rock figs started at $.96 each!) My dad always took time to join our battles and we had a ball "blowing up" cardboard bunkers and mountains made out of blankets. That $5 purchase started it all! Thanks for the work and thanks for bringing back some great memories!

Great stories guys. Thank you so much for sharing. I can't speak for bucky, Dusty79 and DanOfTheDead, but I know that for me, working on customs for Retro Toy Chest is completely about nostalgia. It means combing through old Sears catalogs and product inserts to find inspiration and recreating some of my favorite toys that I had or never got as a kid in modern form. If it sparks a bit of nostalgia with everyone looking at the project, mission accomplished :)

Meantime, bucky shows off his favorite TMNT figures in Day 12.

Great job on the TMNT. It was a bit after my time, but my kid brother was a big TMNT fan and collected them, and I would mess with his figures some. You definitely captured the look and feel of them.

If that Triceraton was released as a production figure, I would buy every single one I saw on the shelves. If that meant 10, great; if it meant 100, even better. It's one of the most beautiful customs I've seen in a long time, both in terms of its appearance and level of detail, and the fact that it's an anthropomorphized dinosaur with guns, which is indisputably awesome. Outstanding stuff.

all the contest entries look great!

I guess mainframe got my psychic message! whoever was supposed to make raph and mikey take off the tinfoil hat :)
seriously mainframe those are some awesome arah parts to transform into a turtle! I bashed an all green ME wildbill into a tmnt Christmas ornament.

dremel I always love your builds! this one is perfect. until I just noticed the last pic was the source pic, I was going to go look it up! you nailed the proportions and it looks great.

hypnohustler did you draw that dragon tat ? the figures look great and very true to your source pics.

Congrats, man

I did not find it because I rarely venture to any other forum other then the critiques thread. I assumed it would be added to this thread.

Waterslide decal. Though I did have to redraw some of the logo in Paint since it was covered y text in the image I found.

This has been such a great project, and it's great of the PHX guys to let us glom onto their hard work. Loved seeing all this stuff, and it's definitely given me a few new rabbit holes to fall into for future inspiration.

I love seeing these customs. Over the past two years I've seen more customs come out of this project and this contest of the "WOW, never thought I'd see someone customize that" variety, than anywhere else. Fantastic work to everyone involved.
