This is a reproduction of the 2003 New Sculpt-era version of Recondo. Now Recondo is probably my favourite Joe of all time, and I don't think anything could compare to the original figure. But the newer version is nice enough to earn an update into the correct, ARAH style. He still has his original accessories, since to me those are so iconic to the character that I can't picture him with anything else. I painted details on both his rifle and backpack to sharpen them up a bit.

In Wild Weasel's early comic appearances, it seems his colouring hadn't been finalized yet, because he didn't have the all-red flight suit his figure ultimately had. So this repaint of Wild Weasel uses colours inspired by these comic appearances. I think he looks pretty boss. The contrast of the deep blue versus the red has a more striking appearance than just the red of the original. A reference pic from Marvel issue #27 is included for comparison.

Last year I did repaints of Zarana and Zandar so that they would match up with Zartan's colours. The paint didn't exactly match Zartan, so I did this custom Zartan using the same paint so they would match up. I also painted some details on the boots, inspired by the Funskool version of the figure. There is a picture included of Zartan and his siblings so you can see them together. In my Joeverse they were originally from a circus family before getting into crime and light terrorism. I figure their outfits originated as what they wore when performing.

One of the more interesting characters to come out of the Devil's Due run of GI Joe comics was Zartan's daughter Zanya. She injected some new energy into the Dreadnoks, and her relationship with the aunt Zarana is fun. The basis of this figure is the wonderful parts (head, torso, waist) sculpted by Krexx Radek which bring the character to life. There was a fair bit of fiddly painting on this one, due to the stripes in her hair and the Dreadnok symbol on her shirt. The gun came from my fodder, I don't know where it's from but it reminds me of Zartan's pistol so I went with it.

Great work as always. Zanya and Six Gun are my favorites of the bunch!

Another awesome batch of customs, very inspiring stuff.

That Scarlett is very nice. I've been wanting to make something similar. Also really liking that Barrage, nice job with the sculpting. I need to make a custom of him someday for sure.
That Recondo is pretty creative, and wild weasel does look special in those colors. Very nice.

Zanya turned out fantastic, and I like those repaints of Zartan and his siblings. Especially Zandar.

Thanks, I'm really pleased with how well she turned out. One of my favourite customs I've done to date.

Barrage is brutal. What's the base head?

Creative use of the Backstop helmet on Six-Gun!

Barrage's head is from a Sgt. Savage figure. And thanks!

The color matched Z-family needs to be an official release. I can't believe how good they all look in matching colors.

I may be stealing that idea for a modern style set.

Wow, I'm amazed at how well new sculpt Recondo transitions into ARAH. That's terrific work. Wild Weasel looks great in comic colors. I'll have to steal that to make in modern parts.

It's been a while since I've posted any of my customs, so I'm going to do a bunch today to clear some of the backlog of pics that I have. Here's the first one.

Devil Dog

Some of the customs I've been working on are to fill in the original GI Joe lineup, to give them enough equipment and personnel to be operational. One project is to convert a True Heroes hovercraft into a GI Joe landing craft to transport troops and vehicles. One of the figures that would be included with this vehicle is a Marine to provide security, codename Devil Dog. I used only v1.5 parts, giving the figure a camo pattern to make him stand out from all the Army guys in the lineup, and a boonie hat because I love using boonie hats. The head is from Clutch but with the beard removed to give it a unique look.

Head – Clutch (modified)
Arms – Flash
Torso, waist, legs – Grunt

Hat – Marauder Inc.
Rifle – Copperhead v2

Similar to Quick-Kick, Jinx's original outfit isn't really suited to most field operations. So I wanted to give her something a little more practical to wear. I used Chun Li for the head, removing the buns from the side and filling the holes with putty. I had a fairly slight female torso from Angel Forge on hand that I thought would be perfect for Jinx, and I used lower legs from Nunchuk to maintain something of a martial-arts feel to the figure. The arms are from the original figure, she's just wearing her field vest over the original top.

Head – Street Fighter II Chun Li (modified)
Arms – Jinx
Torso – Angel Forge custom cast
Waist, upper legs – Lady Jaye
Lower legs – Nunchuk

Submachine gun – Unknown
Sword – Snake-Eyes v2
