Betrayal in the Dust
It is 2075 A.D. When our story begins. After the great war and civilization was reduced to a measly global population, survival was the only thing that was important. Those unfortunate enough to have survived now are forced to roam the wastelands in search of usable goods to barter for food & shelter.
A small band of ex- spec ops formed a trading post out of an old abandoned service station. Though the gas had long since vanished, they use the tanks to hold resources more valuable than gasoline. Here the band of 13 brothers help fellow wandering survivors find their way. Those that exhibit certain usable skills are recruited into the clan, mainly for muscle & help to defend the trading post from any opposition. After a few years of helping & recruiting nomads that found their way to the trading post, they were 40 men strong.
With their muscle now formidable enough to handle any attack, the clan began to venture out and explore their territory in search of other clans to trade & form alliances. Many of the brothers were well matched and everyone had a role with specific duties. The clan was strong & morale was high, until........ One day a brother decided to lead a scout party of 20 members out towards a nearby hostile clan. He was a hothead and been growing increasingly impatient with the current leadership and their desire to stay small. With a fleet of vehicles & weapons, Brother Ignatius Rokh left headquarters. The remaining brothers volunteered to stay back and guard the trading post. For some it seemed ill advised to take so many members & supplies into a known hostile area.
A stat-icky yell was faintly heard, "BROTHERS! Shouted Ignatius through a 2- way radio (one of the few left remaining). He was barely audible, but it sounded like he was ambushed and was outgunned. The remaining brothers loaded up what remaining vehicles they had and grabbed anything they could. Among them was co- leader "Bunker", a veteran of the group and a loyal friend that would do anything to save his fellow members. Upon reaching the battlefield, vehicles and parts were strewn about, but not a soul was seen. When out of the corner of his eye he spotted a cloud of dust approaching rapidly. Bunker squinted, trying to make out the lead vehicle but it was too hard to tell. As the vehicle approached he suddenly realized what was happening. It was a set up! Ignatius had recruited other members of a rival clan and were steadily approaching the rescue squad with guns blazing. The snap and hiss of the bullets whizzed and struck the ground near him. Scrambling for his pistol, he fired off a few shots just to distract them enough to reach his vehicle, the War Buggy. Shouting to his fellow brothers to join him, he fired up the fully armored rolling battle station. Driving over to the nearest wounded he was able to find, he quickly came to their aid. "Bunker"helped them in and continued to do so until the vehicle was overloaded with wounded. One of the less wounded, "Shrapnel" moved up to the rear Gatling gun and began to lay down suppressing fire. Luckily they were able to dodge the traitors and find shelter by a large rock outcropping. The wounded were treated and now the real test will begin, for their home has been stolen from them, their friends have turned traitor and now they must rebuild..................
