"Look man, you can listen to Jimi but you can't hear him. There's a difference man."

I started this custom for "joe customs rocks!" njc. I had some life happen and major health issues that caused me to not get it finished. since then I bought a lot of guitar key chains and made some brass wire sunglasses. tonight I started adding some paint and think it's getting real close to done :)

i'm struggling with what colors to paint the jacket and pants. I plan on leaving the shirt white.

As someone that finds himself listening to a mind altering guitar solo at this exact moment :

this figure is resonating with me :D

It's one helluva a conversation piece that's for sure.

If i may...the jacket / pants should be purple and orange *or* a deep wine burgundy gloss with floral patterns scattered in appropriate places. If not floral pattern then non human Mongolian art inspired patterns ..

thanks blood! I went back into the shoulder, neck, and waist joints with heatshrink tubing to get them tighter. that lets me pose him and not worry about either losing the pose or coming apart.

I love heatshrink tubing! I burned through 1 multi pack from harbor freight and restocked with every pack they had (on sale for $1.59 iirc) good stuff! I can use it in 5 seconds on tasks that take 24hrs with epoxy!

I appreciate it unknownsoldier13 !

I've started with painting the jacket purple and decided on blue jeans for the bellbottoms.

Can you please describe the process of using the heatshrink tubing?

Thanks.

i'll try and take some pics, but put simply if you have a peg to fit into a hole. if the hole is too big by just a tad . then you can find a correct size of the tubing and snip off a piece. slip it over the peg and apply heat. I've used a lighter and boiling water. the lighter gives more control, but can ruin your piece. the hot water is very fast, but it shrinks all at once. the extra bit of material now makes for a tight fit.

still loose? do it again with the slightly larger heatshrink. I've done up to four layers and everything still hold up. i'm not sure of shelf life, but it's made for electrical wires so it should hold up.

my photo shoot today with fire almost went bad when a combo of too much alcohol and a breeze pushed heat at jimmie. his head band is made from plastic heatshrink cut in strips and I saw the tails contract a bit! I ordered the plastic on accident a few years ago and it is almost useless.
