Bondo is pretty cheep for a good size can. You only need a small amount of hardner. You can use your bare hands I just spread it with a razor blade or a putty knife for bigger areas. The bonus is it won't ever shrink and it's very smooth.

The grey one, it's more correct for the car.

That first base coat makes this thing look like a model prototype straight out of Detroit

thanks blood. I agree that the gray engine looks way more realistic. I've got to figure out how to get some fiber optics ran through it to bring the effect level up.

I appreciate the kind words drbindy! this build is right up there with my mad max interceptor and death race car as far as work put in.

I have a lot of pics to look through and edit from this stage of paint. I still think it needs to be darker, but lighting changes the pics quite a bit. my wraith figure is done, I think....

I also lowered it's stance quite a bit after reading the info pluv linked to. I was looking at pics of the car set up about 6" for "travel". one of the designers explained that the driving stance was much lower/slammed. luckily the rc chassis I used was easy to remove the extra height.

thanks sgcaper :)

after my last pics I did a couple more coats of stain, and didn't allow enough drying time between them. I had an orange peel textured sticky mess!!
I put the car in a box with two lamps shining down in it to get it to dry over night. then it had to be sanded.

this time I sprayed it gloss black and did thin coats of the stain over several days. i'm not super happy with it, but at least I was able to salvage it .I also did a lot of work in the engine bay, but i still need a light effect solution.

I just finished taking some pics. here are a few enhanced with filters.
