We've been trying to sell the house this year so my joe room got boxed up to make the house more "presentable". So all I got to keep me occupied now is the neverending WIP drawer so I've been whittling away at those. I'll post the customs I've finished here as well as some WIP that I need suggestions and motivations to finish.

First up is Wraith that I finished after I got home from the con. Picked up this extra Zartan to use for something and stumbled across this head combo with the extra Cobra Commander I bought for another specific project. Not the original look for the character but I'll go along with DDP and say its not the original guy under the mask. Not alot of paint work on this one other than covering the burgundy with blue and adding some gunmetal and blue highlights. The original Wraith gauntlets and armor fit the Zartan body fine so I swapped those in. The guns are the gun that seemingly came with every GvC 2 pack with the grip and scope trimmed and flipped upside down.

I wanted him to have interchangeable weapons and found the VvV communicators could be of use. Drilled to fit the gauntlets and trimmed the handles of Snake Eyes holy swords to fit.

The communicators also allowed me to switch in the odd whips from Iron Man's Whiplash.

Now the reason I bought that Cobra Commander:

Nothing remarkable here. The first custom with this recipe I remember seeing was done by danofthedead, but I know sgcaper has one too. I added nothing to the custom other than a different head I had close by and I still need a suitable cape.

I guess Launchpad could be considered something added to the custom since I can't find another in the gallery. This started with the chin and went from there. Coil Crusher from the nose down, Checkpoint's eyes and Jyn Erso hat with greenstuff filling in gaps. The torso is from t-crotch Wetsuit with the detail filed off and resculpted.

Here I was inspired by danofthedead once again and his Momma Geddon. After I saw this custom I kicked myself for passing up those multibreasted Jabba dancers when I saw them on clearance, instead I found this one at a convention and paid too much but I really wanted my own Momma Geddon. After hunting the base figure down I knew I needed a Baroness for the boots, but during my time digging through joe bins I stumbled on the 25th Scarlett and decided I liked her boots better. So then I go back to the source and see that he used the Rancor keeper's head, how clever I thought, but I am not hunting down another Star Wars guy. I'm digging through my parts bin and I says, "dan used a dudes head, so will I." My choices came down to MIB slug guys head and Prince Caspian, whose head I had already used for Shadow Strike. Anyways, didn't feel like shaving sluggos mustache so I added some bangs to Caspian and call it a day. Of course the base figure has the biggest neck ball I have ever seen so I graft a joe ball on that fits the Prince Caspian head. With that solved I go back to the skirt, crap, dan used another Star Wars guy. The last time I tried to pop one of these apart at the waist I broke the peg so I'll just make do with what I got. I trim the skirt back with my exacto and keep getting it. Now to cover the extra breasts. I use the green stuff to cover them and bring the gut out a little more, while I'm there I'll add a bit more up top. And I'll extend those boots too. Now I'm thinking Momma should have some tattoos and what if they are Dreadnok themed. What if she tattoos these guys on her skin as she "adopts" them as her own children. What if her own child abandoned her to join a ninja clan? (that helps explain Shadow Strike looking so much like her) So now she's not quite Momma Geddon anymore. I guess I'll call her Ma Nok. Thanks for the original inspiration danofthedead! Seriously, everyone go check out that link above.

Ma Nok runs The End of Days Roadhouse, a safe haven for all on the wrong side of the law. The Dreadnoks began frequenting the place after Ripper told them about Ma. She has since gave them all sanctuary and thinks of them as her family. Her bar is their home whenever they need it and they can always find her waiting with open arms. Since her own son disowned her for what he called a disrespectful lifestyle, she has welcomed anyone who will call her Ma. Her new "children" earn there place on her skin surrounding the portrait of her baby son. Her love and protection is as permanent as the tattoos she proudly displays and brags about.

Hahaha, Ma Nok is just too funny! Made my day, thanks!

Impressive sculpting.
Face looks just a little bit too "clean", or too sweet. How about a big cigar or nose piercing?

I'm probably the last newsculpt fan around but even I recognize that they have not aged well. The original Barrel Roll was a good figure at release but it was old school by the time they reused it for Cannonball. I finally got around to updating the figure and decided to give him a bit more character.

Cannonball was determined to make a name for himself on the stuntman circuit. He was a great mechanic and had the mind of an engineer. He built his own cars and motorcycles for his the stunts he designed. Unfortunately, Cannonball came along at a bad time for stuntmen and his kind could be found a dime a dozen on internet videos. Giving up on his dream, he enlisted in the army for a steady income and something to do until he could decide on a career. His mechanical ability was noticed and while in boot camp he was assigned to the motor pool garage. There he nearly earned a discharge when the MP motorcycle he was supposed to fix was found on the roof of the barracks near a ramp. He had certainly fixed it and with a little help had constructed the ramp to jump across the rooftops. The planned stunt instead got him a place with GI Joe and he was assigned to the BF3k R&D team. Now he's in his element, designing and building outlandish vehicles. He also gets to be the first in the cockpit to take them out for testing and tuning. And when they need to push any design to the limits, Cannonball is the go to driver.

This Dino-Hunter group has been a WIP for years now. I knew who I wanted in the group but hadn't started piecing them together. I'll ease my way through this and add pics and discussion one at a time. I tried to stick with the newsculpt style while eliminating some of the problems with the parts since that is still the overwhelming majority of my fodder.

Crosshair was selected as the team's sniper and lookout. Crosshair has found out that he is in over his head on the island. The beasts are too human for him simply eliminate without reason but he knows they are a threat. Oddly enough the disconnect he usually gets through his scope is not the same with these creatures.

Crosshair was one that I thought was great on the original release but looking back the sculpt suffered from tiny jacket syndrome. So I eliminated the jacket and went with a different look for the jungle sniper. The Redford-esque head that was originally on Comic Pack Cobra Commander was a good replacement for the cherub like face of the original. I stretched the torso, trimmed the biceps, and removed the ever present knee pads of the newsculpt era.

Rampage was assigned to the team as transportation specialist. He chose the AWE Striker and outfitted it accordingly to support the five man team. Unfortunately, the AWE Striker did not survive the parachute drop onto the island after the aerial attack.

Rampage has probably been in some form of WIP for the longest time. Tried to use some parts that I have a surplus of and a head that I have never used, I think. Sculpted the mutton chops last year some time.

After taking that photo, I decided to go back and work on all of these guys. Stretched the torso to avoid the long arm look. The holsters are from the Spytroops Tunnel Rat and they are simply glued to the Blackout legs. Again, I sculpted over the kneepads. I shaved the arm pouches that all the joes had in the newsculpt days. A friend pointed out that all he sees on newsculpt stuff now are the huge hands and now thats all I see. I'm not sure at this time which other arms to use but I plan to revisit this one in the future to sort out that issue.
