The deckplates have been texturized and painted.

I used a medium ballast from Woodland Scenics to create the texture. Now that the paint is down and dried, it looks like using a smaller/finer ballast would have better match the Hasbro deck plates. On some of the deck plates the ballast looks really good, but it's uneven in others.

The paint was custom matched at a hardware store. It was matched to the elevator deck plate. After 30+ years, none of the Hasbro deck plates quite match each other anymore.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that once the stickers are down, and the deck is covered with figures and aircraft, that the discrepancies between the custom deck plates and the Hasbro ones won't be so glaring.

It looks really great as it is, and I'm sure it will look amazing once you proceed.

I am curious though... why not pull up the stickers, repaint the whole thing in your gray, then stencil the details?

Much thanks, guys.

As for the color... If you look at the edges of the Hasbro deck plates, I bled the paint over onto them and blended it. The texture is just different enough that it doesn't look like the same color on the custom deck plates. But I will end up painting the original ones to get it that much closer. And I've got repro stickers on the way, too.

Thanks for the support. Obviously this is the biggest customizing project I've done. There are days when I stare at the USS Midlife Crisis and don't know what to do next.
