I'm always interested in some of the more obscure areas of G.I. Joe...well obscure to some of us here in the United States.
So I like to add figures from various countries to my collection shelf.
For the most part I'm never gonna be able to get my hands on some of the originals...most have been absorbed into collections. Others are simply expensive as hell (but well deservedly so).
The bottom line...in most cases simply out of my reach.
Now the club has been kind enough over the years to start filling in some of these characters. But the truth is some of the characters...just aren't worth being made. Mainly because the figures are simply little more than slight repaints of US figures or in some cases exact duplicates who have been adapted with new names and home to fit the region the figure was issued in.
The Doc is one of these.
On the surface its little more than a UK issuing of the US version of Doc. As I understand it Action Force actually sported two doctors...Carl Greer and Sven Inglesen.
Well I have no use for two identical looking (modern) Doc figures my shelf much less one named Doc and another named The Doc.
So I got a bit creative.
First is a name change...The Doc is now called Suture in my version of Action Force.
And where Doc is a darker skin black man in tan shirt and slacks with green glasses. Suture is a lighter skin black man with a goatee and while still wearing tan he is clearly more combat ready than Doc. He also sports yellow goggle instead of green.
He is *ALL* parts swaps, no painting.
Steel Brigade torso and legs
Lift Ticket vest
Retaliation Roadblock head
Renegades Ripcord web gear and goggles. And arms (I think...not sure on the arms.)
POC Dusty Helmet
I think it honors the spirit of the character but provides a distinction the character never previously had.
