Clutch
Wheeled Vehicle Driver

The 1982 series of Joes shared a lot of body parts as a cost-saving measure. It appears that every figure was supposed to have a unique head, which was later changed to using a few shared heads. So I'm replacing the heads on some series 1 figures. For Clutch, I used Mutt's head as it seemed the greasiest of available noggins. I gave him the M3A1 “grease gun” submachine gun from the Night Landing, since Clutch's filecard mentions he's qualified expert with it.

Head – Mutt
Arms, torso, waist, legs – Clutch v1.5

Submachine gun – Night Landing
Hat – Marauder Inc.

Wheeled Vehicle Driver

One project I'm working on is to give each of the original Joes a unique look, but still something simple and military in appearance. Tollbooth's chest works well for Clutch, giving him an open shirt and a vest like the greaser we all know and love. I gave him the M3A1 “grease gun” submachine gun from the Night Landing, since Clutch's filecard mentions he's qualified expert with it, and patrol cap from Marauder Inc.

Head – Clutch
Arms, torso – Tollbooth
Waist, legs - Skidmark

Submachine gun – Night Landing
Hat – Marauder Inc.

Flash
Engineer

One project I'm working on is to give each of the original characters a unique look, but still something simple and military. With Flash, I decided to focus on his role as an engineer (his SMOS are electronics and Chemical, Biological and Radiological) rather than being defined only by the weapon he uses. I gave him a satchel and a case for his field equipment, a shotgun to defend himself and chromed his visor for extra awesomeness.

Head – Flash
All other parts – Tripwire

Helmet, visor – Flash
Shotgun – Burn Out
Backpack – Wild Weasel v4
Satchel – Marauder Inc.

Grand Slam
Artilleryman

One project I'm working on is to give each of the original characters a unique look, but still something simple and military. For Grand Slam, I wanted something to remind us of the pads of the original figure, and I went with silver instead of red to better differentiate him from Flash. I made sure to provide him with a sidearm that he wouldn't be completely useless in a fight without his giant laser cannon.

Head – Blowtorch
Arms – Spearhead
Torso – Scrap-Iron
Waist – Tunnel Rat
Legs - Taurus

Helmet, visor – Grand Slam
Pistol – Beach Head v5

Grunt
Infantryman

One project I'm working on is to give each of the original characters a unique look, but still something simple and military. Grunt is the most “generic soldier” of all the original Joes, so his parts were selected to be as basic as possible. The only thing that marks him as unusual is his sidearm, which your typical infantryman wouldn't be carrying. But Grunt is special operations, so it makes sense for him. I also made sure to give him a big pack, so that he'll be humping a heavy load like a real grunt.

Head – Rip Cord
Arms – Bullet-Proof
Torso - Airborne
Waist – Cobra
Legs – Gung-Ho

Helmet – Rip Cord
Rifle – Marauder Inc.
Backpack – Low-Light

Hawk
General Commander

This version of Hawk is inspired by his appearance in comic issue #38, where he briefed his troops wearing his original outfit, but with a black shirt instead of the usual green. He wore something similar in issue #13 as well. I swapped out his head so he doesn't look identical to Short-Fuze, and gave him a variety of accessories appropriate to his role. I think he looks pretty snazzy, and the stern look on the Thunder head gives him more authority than the original.

Head – Thunder
Arms, torso – Snake Eyes v8
Waist, legs – Short-Fuze

Pistol – Beach Head v5
Radio – Firefly v4
Binoculars – Duke

Rock 'n Roll
Machine Gunner

One project I'm working on is to give each of the original characters a unique look, but still something simple and military. Rock 'n Roll's filecard says that he used to be a weightlifter, and he did later become Bench Press, so it was important to bulk him up a bit compared to the original. The short sleeves reflect his casual nature. The bullet belts are from an old Remco figure, and I have him an actual M60 machine gun rather than the strange sort of MG3 hybrid thing he originally came with.

Head – Rock 'n Roll
Arms, waist, legs – Chuckles
Torso – Rip Cord

Helmet – Rock 'n Roll
Machine Gun – Rock 'n Roll v7
Bandolier – Remco American Defense

Mortarman

The 1982 series of Joes shared a lot of body parts as a cost-saving measure. It appears that every figure was supposed to have a unique head, which was later changed to using a few shared heads. So I'm replacing the heads on some series 1 figures. For Short-Fuze, you need a swivel head with glasses to match his comic appearance as much as possible, which means Doc is the only real option. It looks pretty good, and I made sure to give him an appropriate firearm as well.

Head – Doc
Arms, torso, waist, legs – Short-Fuze v1.5

Helmet, visor, backpack, mortar – Short-Fuze
Rifle – Cobra Trooper

Snake Eyes
Commando

What if Snake Eyes were more like the other original Joes? That's the concept behind this custom. Keep the balaclava head but give him standard green fatigues instead of all black, to keep him more consistent with his teammates. None of the Joes only had the standard green, of course, they all had differentiating highlight colours for the pockets etc. In Snake Eyes' case, black was the only possible colour, really.

Head – Snake Eyes
Arms, waist, legs – Hawk
Torso - Breaker

Submachine gun, satchel – Snake Eyes

Steeler
Tank Commander

One project I'm working on is to give each of the original characters a unique look, but still something simple and military. For Steeler, his filecard described him as coming from a blue-collar background and working his was through college as a heavy equipment operator. So I wanted to make sure to bulk him up compared to the original. I used Deep Six's head, which required some work to make it work with a regular body, since the neck is significantly longer than most figures.

Head – Deep Six
Arms – Rip Cord
Torso – Thunder
Waist, legs – Roadblock v3

Helmet, visor, submachine gun - Steeler

you really create some great figures with seemingly subtle changes. then as I look closer you have made major parts and paint apps ,yet somehow stay true to the characters!! kind of a majic balance you have going on.

I love the concept for your OG13 project. I started on something similar, a while ago, but came nowhere near finishing it. I did not limit myself to the first couple years of Joes, because my imagination is not even close to yours! Those head choices you made, were downright inspired! I found myself using stuff from all over to get the range I needed! Great work! I especially liked Stalker, Grunt, Flash and Grand Slam!

Terminator
Cobra-La Shock Trooper

Filling out the Cobra-La ranks involves finding 3 3/4” scale o-ring contruction figures that aren't quite human. The Bioroid Terminator from the 1980s Matchbox Robotech series is just one such figure. It has a nice insectoid look to it, with carapace armour. All it needed was a paint job and a new accessory, since I only had the figure and not its original gun, which would have been fine as a Cobra-La weapon.

All parts – Bioroid Terminator (Robotech)

Pistol – Viper v4

Lashor
Cobra-La Seneschal Excelsior

The basis of this figure is a custom-cast set of parts intended to be Cobra Commander transformed into Cobra-La snake form from the movie. Since that doesn't fit in my Joeverse (CC is the comic version, not the cartoon one), I wanted to find an alternate use for the parts. Since I've been doing a number of Cobra-La figures anyway, I used most of the parts to make Lashor, the Royal Guard Commander. His formal title is Seneschal Excelsior, a name selected to be reminiscent of Nemesis Enforcer while reflecting this character's high-ranking position. I also thought that “Seneschal Excelsior” would sound awesome spoken by Burgess Meredith.

Lashor is the second-in-command to Golobulus, the ruler of Cobra-La, and controls the mighty Royal Guards, who while mighty in battle and always in desperate need of leadership. Lashor possesses a sharp mind and is a formidable combatant to boot, incredibly strong and agile and always eager to enter a fight to please his master. His skin is impervious to small-arms fire, his bite is venomous and he is able to regenerate lost body parts.

“Lashor was born in Natal Pods of a rival clan to Golobulus. When the nearly-immortal serpent king destroyed his rivals once and for all, a young Lashor was happy to change his allegiance, and has since proved his loyalty to Golobulus on many occasions, allowing him to tise through the ranks to the very top. Some say he still only shows loyalty because he's ultimately a coward and fears the power of the emperor.”

Head, torso – custom-cast (by Oli GF)
Arms, waist, upper legs – Royal Guard
Lower legs – Croc Master

Helmet – custom-cast
Pistol – Cobra Commander
