Well, good ole Chickenbroth had to mention a joe scale Boulder Hill, so here it is! Scratch built from styrene, plexiglass, styrofoam, parts of pens, all kinds of stuff! This is the first time I worked with styrene and the first time using styrofoam and the hot wire cutter. The Lord blessed me though, protected me when the x-acto knife blade broke and flew up and hit me right between the eyes! No real injuries in this project except a burn from the hot glue gun when I laid my leg on it. Did most of the work in the floor.

Thank You, Lord, for the time and everything else required. The universe is Your custom.

Based on the cartoon appearances, here it is, Gas Station mode!

Here is one direction on the road where I took these pics, there was a full rainbow in the sky!

Here is the other direction on that road, it was amazing. The Heavens declare the glory of God, day unto day shows His handiwork, and night unto night utters speech.

Thanks man. It was a crazy day yesterday when I took the pics. Drove around looking for a place and when I found this spot, it turned out to be on my brother's property. So, I called him and got permission to be on there, it was getting close to dark and starting to rain! One of the pics showed the rainbow on the road and you can see water on the gas station window and on the flooring. Spent about 40 minutes there, taking the pics and moving some dirt/mud with my bare hands (to build up the right side of the ground under the playset). At one point, the sun as it was about to go down was coming down the hill and lighting up a mist that was rising from the road. Wish I had gotten a picture of that!

really inspired pics and it turned out perfect! really glad you found the spot on family land, I wasn't going to mention the "no trespass" sign :) even if it wasn't with permission you can tell you did no harm!

Pretty cool! I've always had a love-hate thing for MASK. The vehicles are awesome and the masks look cool, but the masks 'pretending to shoot lasers/fly/make stronger/shoot knives/etc' always bothered me. However, seeing your Boulder Hill and the figures and the bike/copter makes me really want more MASK stuff in 1:18. Great job and great pictures.

I love the construction, I love the set overall, and I love the figures.

My only critique would be to possibly paint the mountain part a little more mountain-y.

Agreed, some more dirty looking dry brushing on there and this will be perfect. The building and transformation is top notch. The mountain has a great sculpt but just needs the paint for perfection.

Thanks for all the comments guys, I appreciate it. Spin I hear you. At some point when I was a teenager I think, my older brother wanted my mask stuff for his son. I really didn’t want to sell them, mask is my second favorite toy line right after joe, but I felt like I had to. The stuff was scattered and so after he got them I ended up still having some of the boulder hill parts (and my raven). Few years back traded some stuff for most of the parts I was missing, and then ended up buying the last two off eBay I think.

As for the mountain, I went back and forth on that one. I had planned the project years ago but decided to try and get it done for the diorama contest at joecon. A question that kept coming up was am I doing a diorama or a play set? I even bought some gritty foam coat to give the mountain a dirt texture. Really, that question impacted a lot of things, how sturdy should the base be, should the materials be durable or more for looks, how realistic or how toy like should it be? I decided I really was looking to do a play set and to that end I wanted the mountain to have that plastic look (looks like I succeeded!). At first I had actually painted it with black in the crevices and had a couple tones of brown. But then gave it the once over. Thanks for the comments guys, I totally agree with you, just thought I’d explain my thinking on it.

Also, there’s one part I didn’t finish (ran short of time and was afraid i’d mess up what I’d already done too badly to fix in a hurry). And that’s the removable boulder with gun turret and seat beneath. Got some parts for it but hadn’t attempted it yet.

Thanks again guys.
