I love each and every one of these. They look like you're having lots of fun. The parts combos and paints are great.

Thanks. I did most of them like 10 years ago, and it was fun to make them indeed. I always try to make new characters or striking and new things, and nearly always reusing parts of broken joes or vehicles that were unusable any other way.

5 more;

TAR 3; (yes, this is the last one :-P ). The third version of the GI Joe robot answer to the BAT. This version is the radioactive bio-hazard purpose, with enhanced systems not to succumb against radiation (severe radioactive radiation can stop robots, as happened in Fukushima). Vital to fight against Toxo Vipers without risking valious operatives, or to contain radioactive material. (those familiar with ToyBiz Spiderman will recognize the weapons :) )

Image

Arctic Rock Viper; I had a Rock Viper so yellowed he seemed made for desert warfare, so in order to increase my armies I decided to customize it. I thought that it would be cool to have a Rock Viper just made for completely arctic conditions, to climb ice mountains, and camouflaged as such. Sorry for the pictures, as we are getting to the older customs, in which my photography skills weren't so good.

Image

Image

Image

Cobra Sailor; This is one of my favourites, although one of the oldest, for the sheer simplicity of it. Cobra cannot afford to waste thousands of $ equipping Lampreys everywhere, and the manifest clumsyness of Cobra Troopers in sea duties made necessary a Cobra specification for a Cobra Trooper, with minimum equipment but a specific training in sea-duties. Thus was born the Cobra Sailor!

Image

Image

Image

DIC Metal Head; always loved the character, more by his design than his actions, and only knew it from the cartoon. When I started collecting and got my hands into what sorry excuse could Hasbro produce from Metal Head I was appalled. And so, I had to customize how Metal-Head should have been. I changed the torso for a Lanard torso that was the largest I could find, and resculpted the head and extended his feet.

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Desert Trooper; I thought the Green Shirts wouldn't be much good in a desert scenario, and so a Desert Trooper should exist. I tried to choose common pieces to make more afterwards, but never got around to do it. Maybe I should have gone with plainer colours without camo. I think in my Joeverse he will be rebranded as a unique character. Anyway, this was it;

great job on metal head! showing with the factory version really highlights what you did!

that outside pic of desert trooper is awesome! talk about blending into the environment. he looks like a desert mission recondo to me, he had to shave those mutton chops :)

Thanks :) . At that time I had those pebbles in my garden, and without intent, I matched the colour and design of the garden!

5 more;

Fog Viper; Fog Vipers are trained to generate tremendous columns of smoke, a smog so thick that no Joe can see through it! this fog is also very poisonous, as Cobra has cutted down costs and considers it's toxicity a plus. Their colours are specially recognizable so other Cobra troopers nearby don't shoot at them.

Image

Image

Image

Fog of War; leader of the Fog Vipers. I had a few yellowed Toxo Vipers, without helmet, hence these customs. At this time I was still using air drying clay, which didn't give so good results as epoxy putty.

Image

Image

Image

Goldadder;

Goldadder is a mysterious strategist that appeared on the midst of a battle nearly lost by Cobra, where he saved Cobra Commander and Serpentor of sure defeat and capture or death. Since then this mysterious character is a respected member of the high spheres in Cobra.

I thought the torso of Cesspool was very cool (I had the torso before I even had the figure) and so I figured that a good sort of Cobra general could be made with it.

Image

Image

Image

Holographic; Gi Joe specialist in holograms and 3d virtual vision. Originally I was planning to use a sort of hand held projector to go with him, but never got around to do it.

Image

Image

Image

Wreckage; inspired by the never released version of Hasbro, I thought it would look cool to make a sort of v2 of him, with Storm Shadow's head;

Image

Image

Image

Sorry for the rather dark pictures. These were among my first customs.

wreckage steels this round for me! really cool outside pic too.

those yellow and white stripes on the foggy boys, wow, makes my anxiety shoot up just thinking about painting those!

Thanks :) . Yes, really the Joes like the outdoors, there is nothing better than photograph a custom on the wilderness.

This time a whole group, and I am start to run out of customs;

When I started collecting, the Red Shadows caught my interest, such a new idea I never heard about. And as such, I thought that I would expand and make them into a sort of new 3rd faction to the GI Joe - Cobra world. This is why I didn't go fully monochromatic with them, as I thought "Not all Cobras wear blue and red, so not all Red Shadows should be red & black!".

Anyway, here they come;

By order;

Gold Creeper; A Night Creeper that has gone rogue and betrayed the organisation, a renegade Night Creeper that joined the Red Shadows after keeping the booty of a bank robbery.
Sonicshock; leader of the Gas Troopers.
Electroshock; female expert in electronics.

Image

Shadowbot; Red Shadows answer to the BAT.
Shrapnel; field operator and tester of new weapons.

Image

Nocturn; expert on night ops.
Nightfall; stealth ninja.

Image

Snowblind; extreme temperatures expert.
Inverter; scientific and hi-tech weapons developer.

Image

Gas Troopers; crazy enough troops to use potentially lethal biological weapons.

Image

Group pics;

Welcome to Joecustoms!
That´s some entrance with all the ARAH goodness. A lot of interesting and nice customs. The ones that stand out for me:

Drumstick: you cannot go wrong with a customs that has a Monkeywrench head + helmet.
Radical Rad: with the holsters and cool guns he simply looks rad! Great work with the inks.
Ninja Breaker: where is his sai from? The added spikey knee pad is a nice touch. Cool dio shots!
Secret Empire Trooper: I love the head. Looks perfect, like a true arctic commando. The extra fur makes quite some difference. Quite some new competition in coolness for the original Snow Serpent.
Project 52: I really like how you used Serpentor's helmet. The new paintjob on it and the black face with bright yellow eyes create a pretty sinister custom.
Metro Viper: sweet colours on him to resemble the Rage's colour scheme. I've always wondered why that vehicle didn't come with a driver.
TAR 2:great mods to the head, never thought the Avalanche head would have much potential for a decent custom.
The Vanguard: creative use of the base vehicle, an Armadillo turned backwards! My Monsoon would love to drive it: http://www.joecustoms.com/customs/custo ... &c=monsoon
Fog of War: who's head is that?

Lost of great stuff in this thread. My favourites are the Turbo Viper and Desert Trooper, but I love anything ARAH-style of course.

Phew! I've been out of touch with the GI Joe world for quite some time. But I am still alive and customizing :P .

Many thanks to all. Sorry to reply so late! but I'll do anyway;

The sai is from the chinese in pirates of the caribbean. The original figure can't hold it, so I had to find a new owner ;) .

That Monsoon custom is cool :P . I might take the idea!

Fog of War is just a Toxo Viper repaint with a newly sculpted head ;) .

I've put in order my custom folder, so I have everything under control now. So here comes some very early customs, when my photo skills were very bad, and my other customizing skills were just at the beginning of their refining. I have thought that all the same, they would be fun to see.

Gracias ;) . Os traigo unos cuantos más, del 2009;

Bio BAT; Dr.Mindbender's answer to severely injured Cobra troopers, and the poor AI of BATS. Robotizing Cobra Troopers, giving them improved endurance and resistance, while keeping their human brains for direction :P .

Image

Image

Image

Eclipse, mercenary test pilot.

Image

Image

Image

Ice Viper commander; I had a yellowed Ice Viper, so I had to do something with him. As he was complete, and I am a keen armybuilderist, a repaint was the answer. I thought as the WOLF is two-seated, a second crew was almost mandatory, and thought it would be cool to make a commander with different paintjob.

Image

Image

Image

Machete; a Tiger Force operative, with it's past surrounded in mystery and shadows.

ImageImage

Swamp Vipers; Cobra's answer to defend Cobra island cheaply. Don't like the official ones, so I came up with these to use up my never ending amount of Fast Draws and Big Boas, (in the past that is). These troops are cheaply armoured, with heavy armour to allow them to sink into the mud, and with a snorckel to be able to breath. The one with blue visor is the commander, green the radio operator and red the ordinary trooper.

A custom made Dreadnok cycle, one of my earliest customs ;) . Painted with sort of school paint!

WIP PIC

Cobra Elephant; Cobra Commander wants to travel in style, and in India, that only left an option....

Dark Approach; SWAT expert in crime-fighting tracking. Made to reuse a yellowed Shockwave.

Image

Image

Image

Image

Night Interrogator; yes, Cobra has no end to it's multiple variations :lol: .

Image

Image

Image

Chromemask; guerrilla chief in Sierra Gordo, having bought a second hand mask from Destro.

Image

Image

Image

Missileblast; a rather colourful custom to blend in the whacky late 90s. My first proper custom, mixing parts, sculpting and repainting.

Image

Image

Broker; Broker was a employee of Wall Street that lost his job during the recent economic crisis, and he became a Dreadnok, stealing banks, insurance companies and wreaking havoc all around.
