You can always try using the helmet plugs and putting them in on the backside of the belt. That fills in the hole, makes it removeable and is low profile so it won't cause the belt to stick out too much.

I ordered some of the patch plugs and grenade loops (cheapest plug option) to try filling from the back.we'll see when they get here.
