With the absence of our beloved JCA awards, (rough year for the guys running it), this is your chance to give a shout out to a fellow customizer that inspired you, or you enjoyed what they were posting. Let us know who you were keeping an eye on this last year and why!

Bonus points if you link to the custom in the gallery so we can see what you like.

Ok, what I usually do is add my "dj" tag to any custom being added to the Gallery that really catches my eye.

Then I open a "List of Joecustoms recipes I like" document on my laptop and input some basic information. Custom Name, Specialty, Customizer.

I hadn't really updated it for several months, although I saved the emails I got whenever things were added to the Gallery.

I noticed a lot of past nastification and Jogunwarrior customs. Whether it's unique characters or reuse of parts, they seem to catch my eye.

So, in case anyone wondered what the "dj" tag was, there's your answer.

i get inspired by a lot of folks. joecustoms is my window to the hobby. i copy a lot of sgcapers style, or try too. same with the specter with a lot of dio items or just that over all aesthetic of his work. alleyviperelite is another dio item maker i have copied too with his really fun idols and alters. i'm in awe of scruffyronins sets and photography.

i've been trying to copy chief's motu stuff , really great stuff! drbindy is a big influence on my style. so is danofthedead, and pastnastification has been an inspiration and collaborator. drpshopbob's got a great gritty style i gravitate too as well.

some new faces (names) have popped up that i've enjoyed seeing there work recently too. 8bitboy has made some cool figures i've never seen before, and
sizemore77 with his huge totally awesome 80's project.

oreo builder, bucky, bloodbrigade. i borrow from so many i could make a list of members too long to read. so many great artists and imaginations.

i've missed seeing a lot of the guys who used to be on here everyday, every week, shoot just on their rounds through all the internet :)

i know this is CC, but make it a revival! come home!

My shout out for the past year is for sgcaper. Consistently putting out stuff that catches my eye and solid paint work. The random things he’s made was a partial inspiration for the FUBAR island project, as the custom didn’t need to fit into any known universe or property, he was just making cool figures with pretty much anything he wanted to!

My shout out for the past year is drbindy. yes, I know the bastard doesn't need any more kudos, and I'm also biased because he's in the D&D group I'm in. Plus, I swear NO ONE has made more self-customs than him. But the work he continually outputs (and then refines/updates) are museum-diorama quality.

I also am in awe of everything Blood Brigade does. He (assuming BB is a he) could/should be working on the Joe Brand for real!

no links. you folks understand what i'm talking about.

that being said, this site is full of my favorite customizers, and I cherish you all. I miss the JCAs this year, as I love the idea of showcasing the shining examples of the artistry of this site. Anyone who posts anything here is beyond a hobbyist these days. You are amongst your peers and people.

My shout out for this year is you. Each and every person who has contributed to this site in any way, no matter how active you might be, has shaped this group in some way. So thank you. You are JoeCustoms!

My shout outs go to 2Dark for his constant thinking outside the box when it comes to parts and character ideas.

A second to DrBindy cause damn his mind is a hurricane of ideas and he nails each and every custom he produces.

That guy is constantly pushing the envelope and updating everything. It doesn't help that he's constantly taunting me with his WIPs. Oh yeah, since he kind of mastered the custom figure thing, he went and decided to expand and do all of these characters in diorama photoshoot awesomeness that just makes everything better. So yeah, if I had to shout out any one person over the past year for pushing me to be better in my craft, it would be that mother "LASER BLAST" ING "LASER BLAST HOLE".

Huh! I always wondered what that was! I guess that’s half the battle for me.
