Hah yeah. Once I've got some practice under my belt so I can print successfully (I'm doing pretty poorly with it right now), I hope to get some clear resin and see how things like some reproduction canopies look.

I painted up the gummy bear to show his detail a bit better. I need to print some arms for him. Here he is standing next to a Joe for scale:

He's brush-painted, not sprayed, so you can see brush marks on him. Even so, you can tell how smooth the print is from the paint covering. There was no prep work done to the figure (no trimming or sanding). The only prep was an alcohol rinse, water rinse, then UV post-curing, which is required with this sort of print. Aside from the UV curing, the other steps are steps I take before painting anything, anyway, so not really any major additions to being ready to paint.

I made the purchase of an Anycubic Photon. This thing is absolutely amazing!

It is fairly easy to use pretty much out of box, and there are a lot of great tutorials on Youtube.

Also, Blender is an incredibly powerful tool that has been a game changer for me. Most of the heads in the picture are video game models that I applied the video game textures to instead of sculpting. I pretty much just added a sphere for the neckball.

Can you get some closer detail shots of the heads so we can see the print resolution. That's pretty impressive.

I got a Form 1 a few years ago then promptly became a full time parent so it's sat in its box for the last two moves.

The price point on the photon makes its quite tempting, as the Form1 was pretty time intensive to set up and care for.

Very cool. When I was looking at game models, they all were very angular in their basic form. I take it blender is able to "apply" smoothing to the angles to make the shapes more realistic...?

On my lunch break, so I can't go to in depth. It can actually go a step further using the subdivide surface and the displace functions and apply the drawn texture from a image directly to the mesh. You have to manipulate some values to get it to look right, and it will drastically increase the file size.

Those are nice! Blender is one beast I've just not been able to get even halfway decent with but your stuff is making me want to give it another go. How messy is the Photon? I have a Wanhao D7 but don't fire it up very often at all because the resin is so messy and the build plate always seems to get an excess of it on it.

When I get some free time I will try to make some kind of tutorial of the steps I go through in Blender to make one of these heads printable.

Your printer looks pretty comparable to the Photon as far as the messiness goes. Most of the time that I make a mess it is because I tried to rush something. For the excess resin on the build plate I have a big bowl that I dunk it into isopropyl alcohol and it wipes right off. Don't forget to wear safty gloves.
