Here's what I was thinking for the next round:

The Faux-Joe Challenge:
GI Joe has been spoofed and lampooned many times. It is also a format that has been emulated time and time again to varying degrees of success. The goal of this challenge is to take characters from properties that are outright parodies of GI Joe, or heavily borrow from the Joe format.

To distinguish this from the Knock-Offs Group Project, a character may not have had an official 3 3/4" O-ring (or similar) style figure produced for it before.

Let's try to continue the momentum PHX Customs got going with their excellent Retro Toy Chest Figures and Combat Carl custom!

Parodies:
Properties that have directly spoofed GI Joe toys, cartoons, and comics.
OSI and Sphinx from Venture Bros
"GI Jeff" Characters from Community
"Too Many Cooks" animated segment
Combat Carl from Toy Story
"Cheat Commandos" from Homestar Runner

Inspired By:
Properties that seem to heavily follow the GI Joe formula. We're looking for military themed teams (from toys, cartoons, comics, films, etc.) with codenamed characters. Must not pre-date the A Real American Hero toyline (1982).
The Commando Elite from Small Soldiers
Rambo and the Force of Freedom
GUTS!
C.O.P.S. (close enough)

Off Limits:
The Corps!
Eagle Force
Visionaries - Close, but not military themed
A-Team - Similar enough in concept, but already had GI Joe style toys produced
etc

Figures can be as accurate to their source material as you like, or tweaked to fit in (Cheat Commandos as human characters, for example).

Please feel free to add more sources, or ask for clarification on if a property is a good fit.

I tried to come up with something with a pretty open interpretation for submissions, please add to the list of you can think of any examples that might work!

I always end up bailing on these at the last minute, but this sounds like fun and something right down my alley.

It was tough to choose between that and Faux Joe Challenge.

I'm assuming that the various Remco lines and Bronze Bombers are also out of the running?

The character cannot have previously had specifically a 3 & 3/4" figure before? Hmm...

Correct. Anything already with a Joe style figure is out.

What about an original line or concept that is based on Joe/Cobra?

I'm gonna say existing characters/properties for this one.

I'm not planning any, but would SK Omega be in or out? I can see arguments either way.

Interesting! I had thought about this and was originally was going to say no, because they were already 3 3/4" figures... but the toyline was never released.

I'LL ALLOW IT!

I loved that comic.

Also, I always considered Sgt Savage and his Screaming Eagles to be a joke of a toy, and since they were 5 inch, would they qualify if they havn't had a figure produced in the later ME lines (didn't Stone come out as 3-3/4)?
