I'm still all over this idea. I'd love to have a little mini set-up of some of my favorite issues using toys.

Here are some more details from the old thread

Quote:
Hello everyone! Just tossing out an idea for some feedback. I've seen some Marvel Legends famous covers where they have taken them and rendered them into a statue type form. I was thinking that it would be cool for a GP or Dio-Story one-shot (feel free to move this post if you need to) that each participant takes a cover from a Joe comic, past or present including Special Missions and Joe vs Transformers, and makes customs based on them. For example, the shot of Hawk, Wet-suit and Beachhead on Marvel issue #47 riding a Devilfish. Update the characters using new or old sculpts to capture the feel of the comic cover. Most of us all have some sort of publishing program where we could duplicate the logo, border and etc. to give it a comic feel. Just a shot in the dark. Tell me what you think.

And here is thread

Oh yeah! I would love to start on something like this. It would be a real challenge for my part.
I have some covers in mind...

just bumping this up.

Just imagine recreating your favorite GI Joe cover. I think there are so many ways this could be done.

Yep, that's just the kind of thing I was thinking about a long time ago when I posted the original thread. The idea's been around for a while. Hope it sees GP light of day sometime in tnhe future.

I would vote for this one.
I have only done 1 GP so far, and it was Tiger Force, I just could not pass on that one.
I think this would be another that I just could not pass on.

I already know the cover I would do, and have most of the items, I think I would just need 1 figure and a couple of accesories to do it.

The problem I see with this may be it could go as a photoshoot/photoshop/dio project rather than actaully making customs, not sure how the guidelines would work out. Maybe required to have actually painted or modifed some part of a figure or vehicle or all figures and vehicals?

I think you are right. The guidelines would have to require at least 1 figure to be customized, our it would turn into a dio type project.

I still think it would be an awesome GP!

I am voting for this next go-round, and I think I may just go ahead and start collecting my items now even if it does not win!

Having three years to ponder this one, I have a great idea if the voting wins out!

I don't know. I think something like this is so open to interpretation that I would lean towards no. I would though like to see a list of what everyone is planning on doing, just in case someone doesn't want to do a cover that someone else is doing.
