Today I profile the Plastirama release of Blowtorch. Antorcha was released exclusively in Argentina. Heavily based on the American figure, he has a few key differences that make him pretty fun to have around.

In no way is the 1983 Snake Eyes "forgotten" at all. He's one of the most popular and iconic figures in the line's history. As a kid, though, he was my original enemy for G.I. Joe and that left him behind once real Cobras showed up. All the later repaints obscured the simple genius of the original figure and I've found a new appreciation for him.

This week I look at the 1983 Dragonfly helicopter.

http://forgotten--figures.blogspot.com/ ... onfly.html

It's a great toy full of play features. Plus, the design can't be beat!

I got mine for Christmas in 1983. By December 26, 1983, the blades had been snapped off at the rotor. My sister and I got into a tussle and she pushed me backwards into it. I still bring it up to her as a point of contention. My parents refused to get me another one out of principle (over us fighting in the first place). No amount of 80's glue or melted lego would hold the rotor up to the stress of being spun with the pay feature. And so it sat as a HQ statue on display. I didn't have a functioning version until the ARAHC Locust came out 18 years later.

Even though 21st Century released the Marine Cobra in super detail, I actually prefer the NAC as an attack helicopter over it or the Dragonfly. Much moire versatile and fun.

This week's profile is the 1992 Barricade:

http://forgotten--figures.blogspot.com/ ... icade.html

He's kind of bland and is a rare case where the 2000's era repaint was a huge improvement.

The 1989 Downtown was a figure who looked really cool when I wasn't buying Joes as a kid. Once I got him, he had some limitations. But, it's a solid mold with great gear.

The Comic Pack Fred was a figure that collectors had long wanted. The overall figure isn't spectacular. But, the Fred head is. It fits perfectly onto Crimson Guard bodies and makes for a nice army building diversifier. Collectors are on to him, though, and the one time clearance fodder figure has gotten a bit more pricey in the past 12 years. But, he's still a must have.

I love that Fred figure. It was everything I wanted the comic packs to be. Well, ok, LRRP Snake Eyes and Tommy and the Oktober Guard were everything I wanted them to be, but Fred was real close.

I'm knee deep in International Joe Month, but this is my first profile. The Laser Exterminator is a HAL repaint released only in Europe. However, it features a much more detailed color palette and the general theme of the toy fits more in line with an international villainous society.

The Roboskull and the Laser Exterminator are two big remaining wants for me. I've thought about customizing them, especially the Laser Exterminator considering it is just a repaint and HALS are fairly common. It is one of those pieces I just wan tot be the real deal.

Today's profile is the Brazilian Olhos de Fenix figure:

http://forgotten--figures.blogspot.com/ ... usive.html

He's a richer colored version of Spirit who has gotten a lot harder to find than he once was.

Today's profile is the 1988 Voltar. Aside from the color, this should be a cool figure. But, the character is kind of dull and the mold is busy for busy's sake. But, he does come with a vulture!

Today's profile is the 1997 Sgt. Zap figure. I've grown to like this guy more in recent years. His helmet doesn't work, but his gear is solid and the figure's design is a good update for Zap:

Today's profile is the iconic 1986 Cobra Viper figure:

http://forgotten--figures.blogspot.com/ ... viper.html

He's the backbone of the Cobra legions and a figure I've grown to appreciate much more in the past few years.
