David Willis' last TNI exclusive Shortpacked!
http://toynewsi.com/news.php?catid=242&itemid=17536

I stopped reading his regular webcomic but I always read his TNI ones. This one is a perfect and fitting end to that run.

I think he's done with TNI.

Love the sweet, sweet irony of the punchline.
Haven't read any Shortpacked in ages. Got incredibly lame & unfunny when it switched from toys to soap opera.

All the people in the comments telling him how much he sucked probably helped influence his decision. I think it's hilarious that he has such venomous detractors. Sure his stuff was hit or miss, but they couldn't be as clever if they tried.

I never laughed once at any of his strips. Not a single one.

Yeah I never understood that. I guess it's armchair quarterback stuff there. People hiding behind keyboards. I thought some of the stuff done was funny and I read the strips on his site. Sometimes it's stupid, but you can't win them all. That one guy that claimed he "fixed" the strips always made for such a downer in the comments. I can't recall a "fix" that was funny at all but he thought he was so much better than David Willis.

Some of the strips are funny such as this one:

Haters gotta hate.

Liked the Faster strip J_Man. That's the Shortpacked I remember enjoying; toys, superhero jokes, should've stuck with that sorta thing.

I think he'll get back on track. The TNI strips may have been dragging him down which resulted in some strips just not being funny.

The strip is hit or miss, and obviously not everyone's going to like it.
Me, I still follow it (and his other strip Dumbing of Age) and aside from my disliking the new character Malaya (probably intentional on Willis's part :p), I enjoy it. Good nerd humor and he's gotten better at balancing said humor and more drama-based stories.

Yeah! But I think the follow-up's even funnier:

I didn't care for this comic strip that much either. But what is the point of crapping all over him? The people that did that are indeed the cowards that hide behind their keyboards. They probably frequent a certain site where much of that hate happens on a daily basis.

I honestly don't see the humor here. It feels like he just didn't have a joke and tried to go off "oh the Simpsons are still on the air when they shouldn't be" thing. I mean... I don't get the joke. It took Destro 4 years to find Robo-Joe and RJ has been sitting around watching TV the entire time while waiting for him and doing nothing? What?

I remember his Matty Collector one about Battle Armor He-Man. The guy seems more like the type who just gets mad but thinks he's got a witty remark for everything, when he's just mad. He seemed to completely rage and miss the point on why BA He-Man didn't have a new chest with a spinning drum. I mean, sure, he cannot like it, but blatantly saying the company was trying to make a product that wasn't fun as a deliberate middle finger when they simply didn't see the need to sculpt a new torso(that couldn't even be recycled or reused without heavy retooling and only for 1 other figure) for an action gimmick I don't think too many people really would have been thrilled over(and with Mattel's QC, would probably have broken easily) just seemed arrogant.

My feelings exactly.
