I think I might have one laying around from the 4" McFarlane Mummy. Don't make me do it!

No, really, the Lab is a mess and I'm terrified ;-)

So I was really psyched for the yellow Dianaut powered suit that I had on pre-order for last month... until it actually ended up being the Cosmic Marines released instead... Not a bad consolation gift at all, but also not that sweet, sweet construction suit goodness (with clear dome, natch!).

So I made Samson here.

This was a project where the fodder DEFINITELY influenced the build. The top half of the figure is the alternate armor that comes with the Mega Destiny Ruin Wings figure. I LOVE this design and immediately needed to use it for something.

I bashed the armor onto a Mega HALO spartan and added some poseable robot claw hands from an IG-86 4" figure.

Just like the PALOOKA suits, Samson is a step just before a powered suit is deployed. This particular unit is meant to support the Dianaut Operations team, but they can be modified for a number of other environments.

Some Samson units have been modified for military use to support the Cosmic Marines/Dianaut branch of G.I. JOE (Galaxy Initiative Joint Operations Elite) forces.

This Samson unit's specs all check out. It's ready for the field!

Looks nice. You're really tempting me to add MB guys to my CHUG collection as powered suits.

Thank you, chaps!

There's just something about the way Mega Construx stuff compliments Dianauts... they're a great "middle scale" between the Dianaut microfigures and the powered suits, especially for robots and villains. :shifty:

Now that I've sorta figured out how GI JOE connects with my Diaclone collection, Mega Construx are going to play an important role in expanding my army and support staff until an 8-pack of green dudes shows up.

Don't be surprised if you see a military-themed Samson sooner rather than later...

Nice. As you may have seen, I've dipped my toes in customizing Dia-Nauts into Joes. Thanks to you, I'm now thinking along with finishing my MegaJoes, I'm going to have to make some Megabots for my Dias.

Was wondering who was going to be the first to post a custom Dianaut. After messing around with them, you can't help it.

Finished my first real custom Dianaut, but I needed some accessories and, um, friends for the photoshoots. Hope to have some cool s___ posted tonight.

The Cosmic Marines opened pandora's box for GI JOE Dianauts, and I intend to stomp that mutha's lid off. Jotted down a ton of concepts for a whole new squad of Joes (new codenames), and I jotted down a list of dream Mega Construx Cobras for them to fight.

Keep it locked. It's about to get fun.

Awesome. I'm not going to do like I am with the MB stuff (not gonna do every Joe, ever, just some favorites), but I'm definitely adding more to the ranks. I can't wait to see what you come up with!

So much fun. I feel like he needs a logo on the center torso. Maybe a few "No Step" or "Danger" stickers.

Agreed.

He's got yellow hazard striping on his shoulders, but I kinda wanna add just one or two more small details. Pretty sure I've got some waterslide decals in the fodder graveyard somewhere I can use.

Got a W.I.P. of an android GI JOE robot that I love. He's definitely got a commander or officer vibe, so I think I might have him lead the robot JOEs and be a liaison between the Dianauts and the robot squad.

//DIANAUT COMBAT MECH ROBO-JOE//

Image

Here's my take on Robo-JOE, a military support mech built to assist the Dianaut branch of GI: JOE (Galactic Initiative: Joint Operations Elite), a special missions force that has outposts throughout the galaxy.

Robo-JOE is not only combat-ready, but he's a liaison between the Dianauts and the other JOE mech units that help the team. Like many of my customs, he's a blend of multiple Mega Construx HALO and Destiny minifigures, topped off with a Green Army Man head (as a tribute to JOEs and the soldier toys that came before).

Image

Robo-JOE is the military/combat incarnation of the SAMSON heavy operations mech. While utilizing many of the same mechanical components, he's even more durable and engineered to be near-indestructible.

One important modification is the addition of a humanoid face. Dianaut scientists discovered that Cosmic Marines bonded with and worked more easily with mech units that looked more like them.

More photos (and reinforcements) coming soon...

Thank you, dude! Got my Cosmic Marines and figured out how to integrate GI JOE into my Dianaut collection. I can't troop-build the green dudes 'til an 8-pack is released, so I figured they needed some reinforcements.

I really loved the idea of the Dianaut Joes fighting alongside larger robotic soldiers, or specialists. Got a bunch of ideas for codenames & specialties, so it'll be fun to expand the roster.

It reminds me of Duke v1's grin, a bit. Robo-JOE may be a mech, but he's a skilled, capable leader but also has a little fun-- just like my favorite childhood Joes.

One day I might replace it with something slightly more "heroic," but it totally gives off the ARAH charm that I like. He's especially GI JOE-esque when standing next to COBRA's counterpart!

I think the helmeted "joe" reaches back beyond arah to joes 12" roots. I just got a lot of 1:16 model parts with a similar helmeted head. when I first saw it I thought it would make one heck of a gi joe trophy in brass.
