Cobra will
stop at nowhere in their recruitment tactics. Tapping an untold number
of resources is what CobraCorps specializes in, and when it comes to
getting new members, location does not stop them. Spreading their reach
into the “Badlands” of North America, a barren, radioactive wasteland
home to who knows what kind of people and creatures. There are mutants
abound, disfigured humans, lost to the world around them and willing
to do anything to fit into “normal” humanity. Perfect for Cobra Corps’
uses.
Born with no eyes, Darkness was at an immediate disadvantage in the
cutthroat world of the Badlands. Soon into childhood, he befriended
another young mutant, one of the more disturbingly disfigured ones.
Because of his lack of sight, Darkness held no prejudices. Even though
his comrade could not speak, they communicated anyway, through sound
and movement and touch, which Darkness could feel and react upon. He
became the young man’s communicator, and he was his eyes, and their
friendship grew. Even when CobraCorps showed up to offer them their
place, they agreed to go together and were both accepted into the Badlands
Mercenary crew. Darkness and Silence became a fearful team, working
so well in conjunction that virtually any target they approached had
no chance of avoiding both of them.
Darkness was also very willing to undergo the necessary adjustments
to become a full-fledged assassin for Cobra Corps. A satellite link
was circuited directly into his brain, allowing him “mental” communication
with the other two, guided through the satellite-like technology that
was integrated into Void’s endoskeleton. He was also given a very powerful
internal radar, allowing him to see better than anyone on the planet,
even the darkest of nights. This, combined with the twin weapons he
has interweaved into the circuitry on his arms make him a very viable
adversary.
From the files of Redwolf: “Darkness befalls the uncertain man, an old
tribal legend speaks. I often wondered the meaning of that phrase…until
now!” ...
