Comments:

Some time back, a discussion came on the GI Joe Mailing list (the PIT) that there should be more international figures, who were part of a United Nations Team. Ian & Melanie (don't know the real name, only his email alias) rattled off a few ideas, one of them being someone codenamed, Marconi who was a Canadian Communications expert. I really liked the idea and the codename, so here's the figure. To give Ian his credit, I named the character after him, and used his codename. His codename is Marconi, and his full name is "Ian" Marconi. So, thank you for the idea, Ian J

I wanted to do this custom right, because gloss paint looks horrible (look at the bludviper) so I primed it with gray paint. I hadn't decided what color to paint the torso, but when I saw the red/gray combo I liked it so much I decided to keep it.

Marconi is a real wiz kid when it comes to setting up communications devices. The Joe team needed a Communications expert to fill in for Dialtone (who was recently captured by Cobra). Mainframe met Ian during a UN Peacekeeping effort, and knew that he was one of the best, as well as a member of the Canadian Army. Hawk received permission from the Pentagon, as well as the Canadian Parliament and Marconi was made a member of the Joe Team, on loan from the Canadian Government for as long as requested. Ian accepted, but only on the condition that he be allowed to use his own equipment, that was constructed with 24k gold.
