Bio

This figure had 2 purposes for me.  First, it was to create a character that would completely fit within a certain time period.  I really wanted him to look like he came straight out of 1982.  As I created him, I tried to make him fit within my mind in that year the best I could.  Since he never appeared with the team in catalogs and other lists, I imagined him as a mail-in.  I then also created a mail-in offer to help myself visualize the figure's release.  The filecard was put together using a mail-in Short Fuse card as well as the picture of Sokerk.  Each letter was cut and pasted one by one (except for the usual phrases) onto the card.  This took a lot longer than actually painting the figure.  Of course, painting him took no time at all because he is rather simple.

When choosing the colors, I wanted him to be as different from the other team members as possible without introducing any new colors or parts that were not present in the 82 line.  Since almost everyone that year came with a different accessory, I thought that using this Lanard sniper rifle would be appropriate.

To create the thumbs, I used a bent sewing needle as a base and sculpy to reform the rest.  If you decide to try this, I strongly suggest having the needle bent before you insert it into his hand.  I tried bending it afterward and his left hand broke off and shattered into 3 pieces.  I carefully glued it, though, and he can now actually hold his rifle.

The inspiration for the character came from GIJoe #1.  If you look at the bottom of page 6, there is another Joe team member there on the computer screen named "Shooter."
