Back in the summer of '85 my brother changed my world when he showed me how to unscrew the back of a GI Joe figure. I immediately took all of my broken figures and started swapping parts around. Sure Stalker had tan gloves, but I also came up with gems like Cool Kid (photoshopped as the 2nd picture because I can't find my original picture of him). Something about the red and green worked. The blue ascot gave him just the right amount of flippant cockiness you'd want in a mercenary. Cool Kid eventually went on to join the Steel Brigade (when I sent away for that figure). But I always had a soft spot for this precursor version of before he joined the Joes.

Flash forward to Custom Celebration 8 and bucky presented the Way back Wednesday Challenge to redo an existing custom. Since I was going to do an LBC as an example for that Challenge I decided to hit two birds with one stone. I remade Cool Kid using modern parts, but to keep with my original skills, it had to remain a parts swapped only figure. Gone was the Wild Weasel torso without an ascot anyway. Hit n Run's body gave the bright green and camoed look and switching the red scarf for blue on the vest kept the original color palette in play. Topped him off with a modern Hoth Rebel Trooper rifle (to replace the vintage rifle), sword, goggles and done.
