Design:

Another "Now a Joe" figure, this time bringing VENOM's vicious motorcycle rider to the ranks of the Dreadnoks. This figure went through several working versions, centered around the obvious choice of the Mutt Williams jacket. Most of the parts I tried were 25A until I found the leather jacket arms of the NS Wild Bill. Those arms paired with the Mutt Williams jacket looked perfect. Rounding out the rest with a Monkeywrench body (a great Dreadnok body also used to make the NS Burnout) looked perfect to blend Sly Rax into the ranks of the Dreadnoks.

The unmasked Storm Shadow head is one of the best of the entire NS run. It brings a subtle quality to the look of the figure. The head of Kenner's Sly Rax must have been influenced by Frank Zappa. The NS Storm Shadow head lacks the square jaw and crazed smile of the Kenner head, but it does has a very relaxed expression. This makes Sly Rax look even more dangerous.

Colors & Paint:

Mostly taken from the Kenner V1 Sly Rax figure, with weathering on the jeans.

The logo was the one used by Master Collector several years ago. I printed it onto regular paper, added several layers of clear coat to both sides, and then glued that to the jacket. I then threw another clear coat over it to help it mesh at the edges with the jacket. I initially printed it with a grey background that matched the jacket, but too much detail was lost so I printed it with a white background.

Sculpting & Modifying:

I sculpted the lenses to the goggles/sunglasses (the straps are simply painted). I sculpted to neckerchief to blend the neck and torso. I carved out the lats so that the arms could fall closer to the sides of the body. The right hand was warped to be able to properly grip the handle of the Mutt Williams motorcycle. I extended to torso to fix the proportions of the new sculpt design. Extending the torso and adding the different boots made the figure scaled closer to about 6' 5" or so. As with the well-sculpted head, this adds some character to the design.
