Head, Max: Hasbro Spearhead
Body: Funskool Spearhead
Helmet: Accessory Pack
LR-300: Marauder Inc
Machete: Battle Corps Stalker
Backpack: New sculpt figure

I wanted a Night Force Spearhead ever since I got back into Joes, but I could never afford the crazy prices he went for. I ended up breaking down and picking up a baggied Funskool version.

The first two things you notice about that figure is that the head is poorly painted, and the hands are just horrid. The first problem was rectified thanks to the fact that I lucked out and got a Spearhead head in one of my parts lots. The latter was fixed with a skin tone paint mix. It's a bit light compared to the head, but it's leaps and bounds ahead of what Funskool used, at least.

Re-accessorizing was a breeze. I had the helmet, backpack and machete in my accessory bags already, and I managed to pick up Max cheap on ebay for just $3. I could've gone with his original rifle since I had a few copies, but that rifle was oversized and didn't really look like anything. Instead I went with Marauder Inc's LR-300 rifle.

The blue detailing on him (or was it teal?) was pretty weak, so I grabbed my trusty olive green paint and set about repainting all the blue parts. I decided to keep going and painted the figure's elbow pads and helmet leaves that color as well.

I like how the new colors work for him, and he no longer looks like a walking target and actually looks effective as a pointman.
