Cobra Commander is the leader of the island nation of Cobra-La. He started out in life as an used car salesman in upper New York. Over time he grew a deep hatred for the U.S. gov't and all their policies. He felt like they were holding the lttle man down , and he was bound and determined to do something about it. He then sought out other individuals whom felt the same way. Then Cobra was born. After several pyramid schemes , Cobra Commander had made enought money to then purchase an island in the south Pacific. He named it Cobra-La and established a working government with himself as the supreme dictator for life.

Since those early days , Cobra-La has become an international superpower. It is a haven for international criminals and even small time crooks. They are allowed to stay but must work for the Cobra organization.
