When the U.S. Government created G.I. JOE Special Operations Shipwreck was one of the first operatives chosen. As a Navy Seal and urban combat specialist he is the ultimate Joe and is often nick named G.I. Joe.

When MAS3 was created he was assigned to be a trainer for the outfit and in the beginning carried out its first missions.

He is also comfortable in Arctic conditions.
