Dark Sputnik was intended to be used as a foil for Lance Sputnik in the Joe Customs Wrestling league, though the idea never got further than the initial figure design phase. JCW management feared that the story line may be seen by some as being to racially charged, though that was not the intent. In the end, the JCW buckled, and the concept design went into the Sputnik archives, where it is being presented here for the very first time.
