Voltar leads Destro's elite Nightshade Brigade. A unit that are experts in nighttime warfare and espionage, especially against the undead. They are let loose upon an area to eliminate all zombie threats.

Voltar has served Laird Destro even prior to the forming of the Iron Grenadiers. He was in charge of security at all M.A.R.S. facilities around the world. He gained a reputation for being ruthless to those who trespassed upon M.A.R.S. property.
