Character:

The Bad Guys were the villains introduced by Remco in 1982. They were made of repainted Sgt. Rock parts, molded in black uniforms. Remco's non-Nazi rivals for its Sgt. Rock line, they were even brazen enough to fight your M*A*S*H action figures. I've wandered off into many non-Joe lines at this point. MASK/VENOM, Eagle Force/RIOT, Johnny Quest, Centurions, James Bond, Action Man/Council of Doom, and even Marvel's Tony Stark. Some of those strain logic a bit to get into a GI Joe continuity. But The Bad Guys? They fit as snuggly as Eagle Force/RIOT. The Bad Guys are mercenaries eager to make some coin.

Design:

For Scorpion, I've thrown out most of the Remco design, while keeping the signature pith helmet. I wasn't sure if this Frankensteined head would work, but I'm pleased with it.

The helmet is just a bit too small to fit the head correctly, so it's placed high to disguise this.

Colors & Paint:

Based on the Remco action figure's black and blue, with the blue added to the bicep rings. The blue I used on my first The Bad Guys custom, Wolf, was metallic. I'm continuing that trend here so's there's color continuity between the team members using blue as their secondary color.

It took willpower to NOT paint the chest armor blue. Covering the Cobra symbol and leaving the armor black helps It read as some kind of contoured armor, but without drawing too much attention to it.

Sculpting & Modifying:

The helmet is a push mold added to a cast head. The Cobra symbol is removed. The pin holes and midriff gap are epoxied smooth. The pouches are pushmolds.
