JUMP Jet Pack: 2008 G.I.Joe Duke (V26) Figure
The Rest: Marauders Task Force Parts

Arguably, the second version of Grand Slam is more iconic than his original figure. The silver-clad Grand Slam rocketing off the JUMP platform strapped to his jetpack is, for me at least, the go-to image of this character. It's a good thing, too, because the first Grand Slam is all too easily mistaken for Flash and visa versa. Both had brown hair, both used the same body, and both wore red. When Grand Slam switched to silver and became the dedicated G.I.Joe jetpack soldier, he distanced himself from his laser brother.
I have much more affinity to the less popular Original Joes like Zap, Short Fuze, and of course, Grand Slam. For this custom, I tried to tweak his look just a little bit to differentiate him from Flash. I painted his thigh-pads and leg armor green. I also painted his boots to look like he was wearing gaiters. On his arms, I tried to make the forearm armor look more like big gloves by painting black all the way around the forearms.
Using the Marauders Riot Helmet and face-shield is a quick and easy way to replicate the helmets and visors of the original figures. The Riot helmets come with problems, though. They are notoriously loose on all the heads. Also, the face-shields don't really rotate all the way down over the face as the front of the helmet sticks out way too much. Lastly, the face-shields, understandably, are meant to cover the whole face while the visors of the original figures only cover the eyes down to the bridge of the nose. To try to rectify the shortcomings of the Riot Helmet, I shaved the front of the helmet to be much more blunt, hopefully allowing the face-shield to rotate further down. I also knifed off the bottom of the face-shield to make it look more visor-like.
