This is an original character who is meant to be a helicopter pilot. Specifically the 1994 Razor Blade helicopter. Not only is he a retcon Joe character, he is also a member of a retcon Joe sub-team. In this case, Vaquero is a member of the Wild Bunch...a close-knit team of helicopter pilots led by Wild Bill. Rounding out the Wild Bunch are members Lift-Ticket and another retcon female Joe named Belle Star. She is meant to pilot the small Locust helicopter.

Besides being pilots, members of the Wild Bunch are all aficionados of the American Frontier and the Wild West.
Vaquero is an exceptional pilot and takes his job very seriously. Vaquero knows that when he is deployed, Joes are usually already in trouble. The Razor Blade is primarily a search and rescue helicopter that uses a hook system to snatch teammates right off the ground and whisk them to safety. Precision is an absolute must as Vaquero is required to extract Joes quickly without shattering bones or dislocating joints.
