The GIJoe team's #1 supporter on Capitol Hill is most certainly Senator Mike Haggar. (I, New Jersey)

Following his pro wrestling career and two terms as mayor of Metro City (1986-1994), Mike Haggar spun further into the world of politics. The combat veteran and former Street Fighter rapidly climbed the political ladder, serving terms in the state and national House of Representatives before his recent election to the Senate. Senator Haggar sits on the board of the Council On Homeland Security, where he campaigns for better funding and extended range for the GIJoe team.

GENESIS: Well, I shaved off Gung Ho's bandana and gave him sculpey hair as a one-off. I realized "Hey, that looks like Haggar from Final Fight!" So I went ahead and did it, basing his look on the intro animation. (you know, where he's on the phone with the Mad Gear)

After sculpting, painting, and assembling, it was just a matter of explaining why. Well, being that Haggar is a rival of Zangief, and Zangief met the Joes, if the Street Fighter line is to be believed, hey, it only makes sense that Haggar would know of them, and almost certainly approve.

So, I boosted him from Mayor to Senator to reflect time since the original game. He's in his late fifties now, but he still works out daily, both with weights and at a firing range. If COBRA ever tries storming Capitol Hill, Senator Haggar will meet them at the door, ready to rumble.
