GALAHAD

Nigel Covington was born and bred to be a "Five" man. He was the son of a prominent English Barrister, and can trace his heritage back to a prominent Lord from the time of the Crusades. His intelligence is off the charts. He is Oxford educated, and was expected by most to take on his father's practice, leading a life of comfort and wealth. But Covington understood that his natural born skills had a higher calling than Barrister, itself a noble endeavor.

While at Oxford, Covington's accomplishments did not go unnoticed. He was recruited by several of Great Britain's finest agencies, but soon found that his mind was particularly suited for military intelligence. Upon his graduation, summa cum laude, Covington signed on to be with MI5.

His list of accomplishments is too long to repeat here, and the more interesting ones don't even show up on the "record". Suffice it to say Covington is among the best Great Britain has to offer. Unfortunately, Covington got bored with the intelligence game, and craved a more hands on approach for battling the enemies of the Crown (and of the free world). When the Cobra war ended and the MEDUSA wars broke out , Covington left MI5 at the request of his good friend, Oliver Queen, who recruited him directly into the upper ranks of the EXCAL organization. Despite his "brainy" reputation, Covington is a ferocious combatant. His swordsmanship was top notch before ever joining MI5 or EXCAL, having had an English nobleman's traditional training in that regard. He quickly found the sword play involved with the Paladin Knight program to be very much to his liking.

Upon joining the ranks of the Paladin Knights, Covington adopted the Code Name of GALAHAD. Given his mostly noble quest to fight the forces of evil (when he could have lived a quite comfortable, mostly peaceful life), the name seems to fit. He is, however, a bit eccentric, and likes to refer to himself as though he were the Galahad of legend. He similarly refers to his Quest, though most do not know if he speaks of a mission he is on at the time, or of a greater "quest" he is pursuing in life. Galahad is the highest ranking Knight in Great Britain, and is therefore chief of operations for missions that arise there, as well as in most of Western Europe. He is "British" to a fault, and is likely the only Knight in EXCAL to carry a "tea" kit with him at all times. He is often the source of humor within EXCAL's ranks, known for his various superstitions (he's afraid of ghosts, and claims to see them), his eccentric style (he wears a cape), his choice to carry a broad sword rather than more modern alternatives (it was a family heirloom), and his jokes, which are no doubt funny - to a person with an IQ of 170.
