The third attempt at making Gung Ho is hopefully the last attempt. With the first attempt I simply wanted to give him a realistic colored uniform and a more modern weapon, but to still be identified as a grenadier. I had accomplished that, but was still not happy with him. I still wanted to give him a realistically sized chest that would suggest that he was actually wearing a flak vest and not just a vest. I also knew that in the military it is extremely unrealistic to go into combat with and open chest so that you can show off your "Marine" tattoo. I also wanted to give him a proper version of the M-16 from the early 1990's era. Again the mission was accomplished and in my opinion this custom was better than the first. With the final attempt I merely wanted to give him swivel wrists. I also noted that he only had 6 shells for his M-203. So I had to move around his pouches to fit 6 more onto the figure. I also painted the grenades, I am not aware of any black colored grenades in the United States Military. This is my final version of Gung Ho, and while some may long for the tattoo, I do not. He his more realistic and is easily identifiable as Gung Ho, the entire idea behind all of the customs that I am currently making.
